President Trump on Wednesday removed controversial White House chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon from the National Security Council, part of a sweeping staff reshuffling that elevated key military and intelligence officials to greater roles on the council and left Bannon far less involved in shaping the administration’s day-to-day national security policy.

Given the controversy it seems like a good decision to manage reputational risk

  • Trump has enough headaches, so eliminating one controversial link is helpful to damage control

It is less of a question if removing Bannon was the right decision, but more why he got this role in the first place.  Trump's credibility is running very low at this point. Flynn, Bannon, more will unravel.

  • That was a risky decision by Trump, but probably a good call.  The risk is to imply wrong doing, but the benefit is to further deepen his liability as the situation worsens with more potential findings.

He shouldn't had Bannon in that job. Trump is demonstrsting bad decision making and lost faith from American supporters
