I believe that Americans should the Electioral vote due to it being a better voting system.

melef In my debate "Is the US governments presidential voting system bad?" I list many problems with the Electoral voting system.

No democratic voting system works, in the UK it's a first past the post method which means the winning party could get 40%, and the others could be 30% and 30%. So although the majority of voters did NOT vote for the winning party they still become the leaders. Doesn't make any sense.

Schnuupi In the USA current system you only need 25% of the votes and your opponent can have 75% and you could still win. Wait technically the representatives can vote against the interest of the people in their state so even less is required.

The electoral vote should be used due to it having votes based on States.

From the two choses, I would choose the popular vote, but not first past the post.

I'd say electoral vote; just because someone's popular, doesn't mean they're good. Look at Lil Pump for god's sake.

But they can go against the will of the people. That is not a democracy.

You are correct; this is NOT a democracy, the US was founded as a constitutional republic.

I have explained this to you before. A republic is a democracy. It is not a direct democracy. It is a representative democracy.
Republic- a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.
Democracy- a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
Representative Democracy- Representative democracy (also indirect democracy, a representative republic or psephocracy) is a type of democracy founded on the principle of elected officials representing a group of people, as opposed to direct democracy.

...and the electoral college is the method that has been chosen to represent our democracy.  Our elections were NEVER meant to be determined by strict popular vote

It was formed because of low interconnectivity. It was very hard and long to travel. It has failed many times in representing the people. 22% of the population can elect the president.

No, it was formed to give less populated states a voice in presidential elections that wouldn't be completely drowned out by higher populated states.

Contrary to modern perceptions, the founding generation did not intend to create a direct democracy. To the contrary, the Founders deliberately created a republic -- or, arguably, a republican democracy -- that would incorporate a spirit of compromise and deliberation into decision-making. Such a form of government, the Founders believed, would allow them to achieve two potentially conflicting objectives: avoiding the "tyranny of the majority" inherent in pure democratic systems, while allowing the "sense of the people" to be reflected in the new American government.27 Moreover, a republican government, organized on federalist principles, would allow the delegates to achieve the most difficult of their tasks: enabling large and small sovereign states to live peacefully alongside each other.
