Can I be saved from Hell through faith in Jesus without entering baptismal waters?

Debate Information

Is it possible to be saved from the "second death" in Hell through faith in Jesus, alone, yet NOT enter baptismal waters as commanded by Messiah?

Yes... but with a caveat; that is, water does not purify the soul from sin and Jesus' blood atonement is more than sufficient to save by faith but why would anyone who truly loves Jesus and honors Him by faith as Messiah not obey His command to be baptized as He was?

If one is truly born again by the Spirit and the Holy Spirit indwells them and arbitrates their conscience in all moral discernment, daily; this, as they venture through life in daily sanctification, how can the redeemed conscience of the truly faithful be clear and honorable if they do NOT obey this most simple command?

I personally feel that if one professes they're saved by faith in Jesus yet they "refuse" to enter baptismal waters as clearly commanded (Matthew 28:16-20), perhaps their faith is NOT legitimate?

Obedience to the Father, Son and Spirit is a hallmark sign of authentic faith and personal relationship. We don't enter baptismal waters to be saved or to supplement the sufficiency of Jesus to save us by faith but we enter baptismal waters BECAUSE we ARE saved and our heart's desire is to honor the will of our beloved Messiah and NOT grieve the Holy Spirit within us.

How can one walk in daily intimacy and joy and peace with our Lord and Savior yet not obey His will for our life? Is that even possible?

    @Fredsnephew ; I believe what the Scriptures tell me through the Holy Spirit; therefore, I believe with all sincerity that Jesus is exactly Who He said He is and trust in Him fully for my New Covenant, eternal, relationship with the Father...you don't...that is your business.

    @Joeseph ; The "slate" of the sinner is purified when one trusts in Jesus as Messiah who died for them as the Father agrees to forgive and forget (Hebrews 8:12) the sin of the one who trusts in Jesus as that sin was placed upon Jesus at the Cross and through faith in Jesus, the Father imputes-gifts the righteousness of Jesus over the life of the one who believes...there are forever declared "not guilty."

    @RickeyHoltsclaw ;

    RICKEY'S DUMBFOUNDED BIBLE QUOTE AGAIN: We don't enter baptismal waters to be saved or to supplement the sufficiency of Jesus to save us by faith but we enter baptismal waters BECAUSE we ARE saved and our heart's desire is to honor the will of our beloved Messiah and NOT grieve the Holy Spirit within us. "

    I have easily "schooled Rickey" in the fact that to be saved, you have to have "works" to be saved!  But he never listens, therefore he is proud to be as bible dumb as his cohort "Just_Lying!"

    “For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then  He will reward each according to his works."   (Matthew 16.27)

    "He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury." (Romans 2:6-8)

    "Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?" (James 2:20)

    RICKEY, TELL US WHY IN THE HELL DO YOU WANT TO BE CONTINUALLY KNOWN AS THIS RELIGION FORUMS MOST BIBLE STU-PID FOOL AS SHOWN IN YOUR QUOTE ABOVE RELATIVE TO YOU SAYING THAT FAITH IS WHAT SAVES YOU, WHERE I SHOW THAT IT IS WORKS!

    No one is saved from the "second death" in Hell by what they do or who they know but in Whom they "believe." Your salvation from Hell is not predicated upon your works or how good you "think" you are but our salvation is predicated upon what we've done with Jesus in our daily lives; that is, do we trust in ourselves and our own self-righteousness or do we humble our self and trust in the gifted-imputed righteousness of Jesus to cover our sin and our unworthiness by faith in Jesus as Messiah.

    Consider this: if you could earn your salvation and be found worthy by what you do, Jesus died needlessly; therefore, the Father's will for your life is that "you believe in the One He has sent into the World" to provide you blood atonement for sin (John 6:29) as there is no other Name given among men by which we can be saved from death in Hell - Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).

    When you cite James and those whom you "believe" espouse a works salvation, you are citing void context and spiritual understanding. Works done through the indwelling Holy Spirit "subsequent salvation" validate and authenticate one's faith as legitimate but those works are not considered honorable by the Father until you have established New Covenant relationship with Him via faith in the Son, Jesus our Messiah; without relationship, your works, on your very best days, are considered a "filthy garment" in Elohim's nose. It is the divine fruit of the indwelling Holy Spirit produced through the obedient faithful in Jesus that pleases the Father (John 15:8).

    @RickeyHoltsclaw

    !!!! SILENCE YOU BIBLE BABBLING FOOL !!!!

    RICKEY, heads up, remember, you cannot answer my posts anymore because your cohort that is as bible stu-pid as you are, "Just_Lying," says the following in your behalf:

     “NO. NO. NO.  Rickey and I are done answering your barrage of questions, when you won't answer mine...."

    https://www.debateisland.com/discussion/comment/187344/#Comment_187344

    Therefore Rickey, I have "free reign" over your bible stupidity now where you are not to address my posts anymore, where you couldn't anyway, but nonetheless, I can address yours and make comments towards your bible ineptness from now on out, GET IT BIBLE DUNCE?

    WOW, YOUR TRULY DUMBFOUNDED QUOTE: "When you cite James and those whom you "believe" espouse a works salvation, you are citing void context and spiritual understanding."

    WRONG YOU BIBLE !  Here is the "CONTEXT" that you are to stu-pid to understand, this time, take off your aluminum foil pointed hat and READ the following "in context" where you have to have faith and works for salvation!:

    "What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

    Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.  You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

    You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working togetherand his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone." (James 2:14-24)

    YOU LIED AGAIN AS SHOWN IN YOUR QUOTE RELATIVE TO THE BIBLE VERSE ABOVE WHICH IS BLASPHEME!

    Therefore, this is what happens to you upon Judgment Day:
    “But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, AND ALL LIARS, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)

    The irony is the fact that you think everyone is as bible stu-pid as you are, which the Atheists are not, and that completely own you and your bible!

    @21CenturyIconoclast ; What James is teaching is NOT a works salvation but the evidence of salvation by faith through the production of divine fruit; that is, Jesus, speaking to His Disciples who had already come to faith in Him as Messiah and were secure in their faith, told them that the Father is glorified through the production of divine fruit (John 15:8).

    Paul, the minister of the Gospel as ordained by Jesus Christ, took this teaching of Jesus and expounded upon it as it is the indwelling Holy Spirit who is given to all who believe in Jesus as Messiah (Ephesians 1:13-14) and it is the Holy Spirit who walks the Christian in daily sanctification via a redeemed conscience...it is the Spirit who produces divine fruit (Galatians 5:16-23) through the Christian and in this the Father is glorified; so then, what James is teaching is not a works salvation but a salvation that is authenticated by the production of divine fruit...we don't work to be saved...Christians work with righteous motives "because we are saved." We are justified in the presence of Elohim through faith in Jesus, not works. The works of a Christian are the product or "produced fruit" of their faith in Jesus...works are not causative but a resultant.
