The arguments which proved that evolution is real was won over 100 years ago, Rick.     Everything that we have learned in biology for over 100 years, (and that is a damned lot) confirms that evolution is real.    Scientist's dealing with microbes can see it happening in real time under microscopes.    Human pathogen resistance to newly created drugs which kill them can only be explained by evolution.    The more you try to claim that evolution is false, the more people who can think know you are a kook.     Update your religious BELIEFS to a more defensible position.   You can say that evolution is real, but God created evolution.

Although most scientists leave few stones unturned in their quest to discern mechanisms before wholeheartedly accepting them, when it comes to the often gross extrapolations between observations and conclusions on macroevolution, scientists, it seems to me, permit unhealthy leeway. In a more recent talk, entitled, Nanotech and Jesus Christ, given on 1 November 2012 at Georgia Tech, Professor Tour went further, and declared that no scientist that he has spoken to understands macroevolution – and that includes Nobel Prize winners! And I said, “I will buy lunch for anyone that will sit with me and explain to me evolution, and I won’t argue with you until I don’t understand something – I will ask you to clarify. But you can’t wave by and say, “This enzyme does that.” You’ve got to get down in the details of where molecules are built, for me. Nobody has come forward. The Atheist Society contacted me. They said that they will buy the lunch, and they challenged the Atheist Society, “Go down to Houston and have lunch with this guy, and talk to him.” Nobody has come! Well, it makes me shudder to think what you’re going to explain if it turns out that that kid happens to be a Christian coming from a Christian family. 

Let me take a rough guess on this… if the kid is Christian then the Atheist Devil came a long and jumped on his shoulder and told him to go shoot up his school. 

So then how come the devil managed to get to the kid in the first place? Well it could be that the kid went off the rails a bit and ignored his faith and did evil by jerking off to the Taylor Swift poster on his wall. Then of course the Atheist Devil moves in. 

Would that sound right to you?

It exists in abundance in museums, which anybody can visit, which are full of the fossil evidence.     It was only 50 years ago that Dr Richard Leaky discovered the first proto human remains in Kenya.     Since then we now know that there were at least 7 different species of proto human beings, because we have their fossilized remains, which are cold, hard facts.     200 years ago the first Neanderthals' bones were discovered in a cave in Gibraltar.  Since then, truckloads of Neanderthal bones are now in extant in research institutes all around the world.        Now it has been discovered that there were three distinct species of human beings.  .   Homo sapiens, Neanderthals, and Denisovans.     Your bible makes no mention of three species of humans beings because the ancient people who wrote your superstitious nonsense holy books had no inkling of science or evolution.

Well, I think there is no doubt about it. The accusation by Coleslaw has backfired badly about the shooter being a demonic atheist. 

In fact, he is a Christian. In all the media reports so far, there is not one mention about Colt being an atheist. Therefore, he must be a Christian.

And he has all the hall marks of being a Christian too. 

Just look at the color of his hair. It is orange, Ossies call that being a Ranga and they get teased a lot. 

Also, he is a loner, and he doesn't talk to anyone. Probably because he is too busy talking to God.

His mom is a hopeless druggie which shows that she is challenged dealing with realty so she must be a Christian.

Well yes, certainly Red Neck atheist gun nuts would die to have a name like that and of course that could explain why the kid had only half a brain to do something like that. But remember that is only an inherited name from his dad's side of the family.

So, when you analize the hole situation in the end the evidence makes it obvious that this kid is a devout Christian and the most damning part of the evidence is that he only talks to God so that means God must have told him to do it.

From what I've read so far this is a case of a teenager with mental and social problems. He had already been investigated by the police for making threats and his father for some reason felt that after the kid threatened to shoot people he should go get him a gun. Well I believe that this person should be dealt with as their responsible for their actions, there's a huge screw up on the part of the parents here for not getting this child help, for not recognizing that they needed help, and then for buying them a weapon knowing they weren't mentally stable. I know from working as a probation officer specifically for juveniles, schools constantly identify children they think are going to be a criminal problem or discipline problem. I have no idea how they can't identify these kids that are always these loners with no friends and identify them as someone who might potentially be someone who does something aggressive. It's like because they're quiet and just go about their day without causing problems the school doesn't want to invest anything in them. Not sure what the schools could do but they're certainly has to be something they could do.

This is where theists move the goal post, invoking special magical powers and claiming their god is outside of time/space reality. Having no beginning. And of course they can't explain how they know this and so require special pleading to claim it is their god's creation but do to the lack of knowledge they don't have to falsify their god theories. Anyway it looks like the shooter's parents are divorcing and the dad of course appears very off his rocker but there is still much we don't know.

To Rick.    Firstly, I am a bit cranky with you for linking me with Factfinder.       Factfinder is just a troll who is more concerned with stifling debate than with arguing out any premise on its merits.      Second, if you believe in Satan, that makes three gods you believe in.   I thought you Christians were only supposed to believe in two?      Third, I am not a horrible person, I am a nice bloke.  I think you are a nice bloke too.   I will bet you are totally honest and charitable, and all of your friends and family thing that you are a straight up guy too?      But I just can not believe in ancient fairy tales which make no sense.

On the whole, Christian values are very good values, and I agree with most of them.  I also agree that because of the west’s Christian values, the western world is the best places to live in, so far.        The Asians are smarter than white people, they have adopted the western way of life, and they are doing even better than we are doing economically.     But they do not have the same attitudes to corruption as we do, so their societies are much more corrupt than ours are. (at present).    On the other hand, they never bought the stu-pid Christian idea that all men are equal under God, so they do not import low IQ and violent ethnicities into their own societies, with the result that their societies are largely peaceful while ours are becoming ever more violent.

I agree that belief in some God who preaches pro social values can reduce criminal behaviour.    The problem is, as it has always been through history,  give the leaders of any church absolute power and they will misuse it.   They have done so in the past, (the Muslim clerics are doing it right now) and they will do it again if we do not keep an eye on them.    So blind obedience to any religion can be a bad thing.  Look at the Islamic world to see the truth of what I am saying.   The same can be said of any absolutist ideology, religious or secular, the guys at the top will always try to make a pyramidal society with themselves firmly at the top.

The ever repeating cycle of teen age boys walking into classrooms and blowing away the people they do not like is primarily a feature of US culture, which glorifies revenge type behaviour in every violent movie Hollywood ever made.     Look at a typical violent movie.    The bad guys do something terrible to the hero, or the hero’s family, and the hero spends the rest of the movie hunting down the bad guys and killing them, one by one.    The last scene always has the hero going one to one with the chief bad guy, and, after a miraculous escape, the hero exacts his revenge upon his hated prime tormentor.     Keep repeating that message in movie, after movie, after movie, and sooner or later, your young people will consider that a script on how they should deal with the people they think are bullying or tormenting them.

In 1996 at Port Arthur, Tasmania, Martin Bryant used and AR-15 rifle to kill 35 people and wounded dozens more, because he thought that society had wronged him.        In the movie Death Wish 1 movie, actor Charles Bronson mows down 35 people who had wronged him.     Yet Bryant is considered a dangerous lunatic, while Bronson is considered a publicly acclaimed hero.

Why is this?    The reason is. because every one of us dreams of doing something really awful to the people who torment us and make our lives miserable.   But in real life mature individuals know that we can not do that.    But the fantasy is very entertaining.    In Death Wish, Charles Bronson completely ignores the law and does what we all wish we could do to muggers and violent criminals.     There were reports of audiences bursting out into applause every time Bronson killed another offender.    The movie was so successful that the movie studio which created the original went on to produce two sequels.   But mature adults know that it is all a fantasy, where the hero is doing just what we would all love to do, except in real life we know we would would suffer serious consequences if we did do it for real.     The message that the movie promotes is that Real Men are violent men, who kill their enemies without remorse.     That is an extremely dangerous message to put in the minds of children, or people with child like intellect like Bryant.

The entertainment media today is creating songs, computer games, posters, and movies glamourising criminal, irresponsible, and selfish behaviour.   It also depicts violent men like Bronson, as well as the most dangerous criminals, as strong and admirable people who lead adventurous and exciting lives.    Criminal masterminds are always depicted a having plenty of money, the nicest cars, and the sexiest girlfriends.     The danger is that allowing the entertainment industries to continue doing this will result in poorly socialised young people, especially those with low IQ or other mental conditions, to consider violent criminal behaviour is admirable behaviour for cool and hip people such a themselves.  

In real life society, parents. teachers, community leaders, role model heroes, plus RickyHoltsclaw, and Just-sayin, strive to instill pro social values to our children (or those with child like mentalities like Bryant and Factfinder), then along comes the entertainment media which glamourises extreme violence and serious criminal behavior.       The results of this mixed messaging is evident in the fact that juvenile homicide is now the fastest growing crime statistic in the USA and Australia.

I don't think simply staying that movies or video games being violent causes violence. Those same video games are popular all over the world especially in Japan and they don't have the same problem. Not just a game thing it's more of an American culture thing.

Wrong.    Officially, Japan has one of the lowest homicide rates in the world.     But too may people involved in political corruption have a nasty habit of taking late night headfirst dives off tall buildings to make an impartial observer at least suspicious.     Similarly, Japan's social system is unique where organized crime is seen as a respected part of the government.     Organized criminals discreetly do the dirty work for Japanese politicians.   These services include vote buying (the current rate is 100,000 yen per vote), vote rigging, strike breaking, tossing peasants off their ancestral land to make way for golf courses, and doing away with anybody who is a threat to the established order.       The US Democrats could learn a lot from the Japanese.    Although, the Japanese could learn a lot from the US Democrats about using their judicial system to persecute their political opponents.  

Prostitution is officially illegal in Japan and there are no streetwalkers.   But behind the scenes are numerous luxury "nightclubs" which are little more than brothels where captains of industry, the judiciary, police bosses, organized criminals, and politicians all disport themselves together with under age girls while happily toasting each other with sake.   The touching Japanese reverence for nationalism, respect for authority, screwing schoolgirls, and graft, have resulted in a government noted for it's ruthlessness and corruption, and this from a region of the world where such habits are rarely even remarked upon. 

People with Liberal views like polytheistwitch, never tire of pointing out that Japan's general crime rate is (officially) very low, even though a common feature of Japanese culture is their tolerance for graphic, violent pornography, especially teenage girl pornography.      But even if Japanese crime figures are to be trusted (which is a very big "if")  it ignores the powerful effect of Japanese culture and their strict social conditioning.   The Japanese have  concept of shame which would shame the Christians.   Anyone who flouts the social order (or Wu) will find themselves the target of public stigmatisation at a level unseen in any other society.

While western culture promotes individualism and even disrespect for authority, ,Japanese culture emphasises obedience, rigid social conformity, respect for authority, endurance, and iron self control.    In Japan, there is no 50 shade of grey perspectives on what is right or wrong.   This strict social conditioning even applies to ethnic Japanese living in foreign lands.   Japanese people living in foreign countries are noted for their very low rates of criminal behaviour. 

Increasingly, the Japanese people in Japan have been voicing concerns over the rise in criminal behavior in their own youth.    There have been two incidences of serious school violence in Japan.     In one, a 13 year old boy beheaded an 11 year old boy and placed the boy's head on the school fence.     Such behaviour is inexplicable in Japan.  

With the Yakuza, older Yakuza have been complaining about the younger Yakuza aping the cars, manners, fashions, and weapons of US on screen gangsters.       They find it distasteful for young Yakuza to drive around town in black Cadillacs bristling with handguns, wearing immaculate, double breasted Kalvin Klein or Valentino suits, with black shirts, white ties, fedoras, and designer sunglasses.  They all look like Asian extras from the movies GOODFELLERS or THE GODFATHER.   In Japan, like everywhere else, handgun crime is increasing.    In 1994, there were 237 shooting incidents in Japan.   Some were just from mundane robberies.  But some were from score settling disputes from rival young Yakuza gang members.    This appalls the older Yakuza.   Old Yakuza know exactly how to settle  a dispute with another older gang member.  You get out your sword, spit sake on it, and go and face your rival, man to man.       Older Yakuza know exactly who to blame for this appalling behaviour by younger Yakuza.  It is all the fault of those American gaijins and their movies.
