How does man attain divine "perfection" and please our Heavenly Father?

Debate Information

Jesus commands that we be "perfect" (Matthew 5:48); therefore, how does a sinner attain perfection and thereby please the Father?

If man was capable of keeping the Law unto perfection, Jesus died needlessly (Galatians 2:21); therefore, the only "perfection" offered mankind is the sinless perfection of Jesus gifted-imputed into the life of the one who "believes" by faith that Jesus is Messiah who died for them (John 3; 2 Corinthians 5:21) thereby initiating New Covenant promise of forgiveness (Hebrews 8:12) and subsequently a life lived through the indwelling Holy Spirit via daily Christian sanctification (Ephesians 1:13-14; Galatians 5:16), a life producing divine "fruit" that honors the Father (John 15:8) and fruit that will endure the BEMA Judgment of Messiah (Galatians 5:16-23; 1 Corinthians 3:10-15).

Divine Perfection is NOT attainable in this life via human effort as we're all sinners under condemnation (Romans 3:23; Romans 8:1+); therefore, Jesus offers us His perfection via His blood atonement if we will trust in Him as our "perfect" "sinless" Messiah (1 Peter 1:18-19) and thereby find peace with our Heavenly Father via what Jesus did for us at Golgotha (Matthew 26:28), not what we can do for ourselves through vain attempts to keep laws, days, diets, traditions (Galatians 2:16; Romans 5:1).

    @RickeyHoltsclaw

    RickeyHoltsclaw, this Religion Forums number one BIBLE FOOL!

    YOUR PITIFUL AND BIBLE DUMBFOUNDED QUOTE AGAIN!!!:  " Jesus commands that we be "perfect" (Matthew 5:48); therefore, how does a sinner attain perfection and thereby please the father?

    Well, at your embarrassing expense once again in front of the membership, you can gain perfection from your brutal serial killer Jesus by following his direct words as follows!

    Jesus said to him, “If you would be PERFECT, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” (Matthew 19:21)

    ATHEISTS: The reason we all know that the "Bible Dunce" RickeyHoltsclaw has not sold ALL of his possessions and given the proceeds to the poor, is the simple fact that Rickey is using his computer to still post upon this Religion Forum, of which it should have been sold, and the money from the sale should have been given to the poor and needy as Jesus specifically states in the passage above to be PERFECT!!!

    Therefore, Rickey is not a true Christian, but in name only, and is an outright hypocrite when he does not follow the serial killer Jesus' direct words shown above!

    Furthermore, RickeyHoltsclaw violates this passage as well in not following Jesus' direct words to Matthew 19:21 above: But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God!" (Matthew 4:4)

    Therefore, RickeyHoltsclaw makes himself another hypocritical pseudo-christian bible fool in front of the Atheists that easily own him and his primitive thinking faith in Christianity!

    WATCH "RICKEY" RUN AWAY FROM MY POST HEREIN BECAUSE HE IS TO EMBARRASSED ABOUT HIS OUTRIGHT BIBLE STU-PIDITY! .....  LOL!

    Short answer,you can't be perfect. No one can even be good, if the bible is to be beveled. Not even Jesus himself.
     Luke 18;19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.

    Jesus is good because Jesus is God.  Christians are made good by the indwelling Holy Spirit after salvation, but apart from the indwelling Holy Spirit Christians cannot be good.

    Argument Topic: Hey Rickey

    @RickeyHoltsclaw

    He doesn't.

    That's all theistic baloney.

    Made up by over-enthusiastic theologians.

    You achieve perfection by realizing that:
    • You do not have to be perfect for your life to be perfect.
    • The only creature you ultimately need to please is yourself.
    • Only you can make yourself happy; other creatures cannot.
    A good first step in the direction of attainment of these realizations is changing what you read. Throw away "the Bible", "Quran", "Main Kampf" and "Das Kapital", and put on your shelves "The Meditations", "How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World", "Thinking, Fast and Slow" and "Feeling Good: the New Mood Therapy". Clear your brain off social conditioning urging you to imitate others and live a grey and boring life, and install better programs motivating you to get out there in the world and go after your dreams while feeling great and endlessly optimistic!

    @MayCaesar
    Sinners who throw away the Bible so they can live to please themselves will not be found living to benefit others.

    My man, your Bible is all about pleasing oneself: you are after the ultimate reward, eternity in paradise. That is the goal of every conscious organism: to maximize pleasure. The difference is, I focus on my pleasure in this, tangible, world, while you focus on the pleasure in a fantasy world that others told you exists. You are wasting your life - and that is what naturally happens when you turn off your brain and let others think for you.

    Turn it on. Do not let anyone tell you what to think, including me. Use your brain, man, it is priceless and omnipotent.

    But it was Jesus that said it, you clown., If he was also god, why even say such propound thing?
     Why didn't he simply say - "only I am good because I am god, but you can never be good because you are only a scummy insignificant lowly human"?

    1. All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
    2. But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
    3. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
    4. The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
    5. He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
    6. He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
    7. He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
    8. Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.
    9. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
    10. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
    @MayCaesar.
     The difference is, I focus on my pleasure in this, tangible, world, while you focus on the pleasure in a fantasy world that others told you exists.

    Living in pleasures for today with no regard for God or death is unwise.

  • @marke, @RickeyHoltsclaw

    Marke, since our number one BIBLE FOOL RickeyHoltsclaw had to once again run away from another one of my biblical axioms relative to his initial topic, can you take over for him to address my post herewith: https://www.debateisland.com/discussion/comment/201397/#Comment_201397

    As you can see, my post link above also includes you as well as a pseudo-christian!  Therefore, show the membership, and especially the ATHEISTS, that you can logically and rationally address said post in the link above!  Remember, Jesus is watching you to see if you can defend his faith (Hebrews 4:13) !

    What I see is a broken man in his twilight years who has completely given up any autonomy and ended up blindly following creepy ancient verses. Your life story is not exactly inspirational; it is a tragedy. It is a Nazi death camp prisoner who has convinced himself that he deserves to be there.

    Break out from your cell, man. Life is amazing: stop meditating on ancient fantasies in your quiet room, and go drink its juices!

    Sinners who blindly believe and accept mob lies promoted by the devil and his followers are the ones who are creepy and sad.
