Do you support McDonalds dropping some of its racist DEI policies?

Debate Information

Any policy that favors someone because of their race is a racist policy.  McDonald's had adopted several of these racist DEI policies regarding hiring,  suppliers, purchasing, and leadership positions.  Recently McDonald's has announced that they are dropping some of their racist policies - but will keep its racist DEI policies in hiring.

Do you agree with what McDonald's has done in dropping some of its racist DEI policies, or do you think it should drop all of its racist policies?  Some argue that their racism is good and holy racism.  They claim that past injustices gives them the right to discriminate against people of certain racial groups.  Do you agree, or do you think that all discrimination based on race is unjust?

I am not sure what exactly has changed. From the article:

According to its letter, McDonald’s has not entirely abandoned the objectives behind its previous DEI policies, setting itself apart from several businesses Starbuck set his sights on.

Instead, the company said it’s dropping its quantified targets for inclusive hiring, promotion, and business relationships for a default practice of equality.
This is very fuzzy. Does this imply that they no longer set specific targets such as "no less than 20% of Black employees" and limit themselves to general notions such as "give special consideration to members of underprivileged classes"? This might not even be an improvement: this might lead to absurdities such as some restaurants only hiring Black people because they consider them to be the most underprivileged people, while in the past they had to worry about multiple specific quotas and had to give, at least, some consideration to every job applicant.

I also do not subscribe to this whole "anti-diversity crusade". Naturally, I am against anything like racial quotas or any discrimination by race. But I am not against the general notion to increase diversity in the workforce. It is just important to think about diversity comprehensively, rather than just looking at people's skin color or preferred pronouns. How about diversity of skills, life stories, opinions? I do not particularly care how many Asian people are there in my office space, but it would be cool to have someone from Japan, someone from Thailand, someone from Korea, and someone from Singapore. It should not be why they are there, but it could be a factor. "Hey, these two candidates are equal in other respects, but we do not have anyone from Japan yet, and it would be cool to have someone who could give us a deep insight on the Japanese market and teach us something from their culture - so let us go with the Japanese one" - is a perfectly valid argument in support of hiring the candidate.

Racial quotas and DEI policies are racist to the core.

McDonald's is still practicing racism, its just it removed its hard quota language to make it harder for them to be sued or prosecuted for racial discrimination.  I think you will see this from other groups that have embraced DEI racism.  They don't want to be open about their racism, so will attempt to continue it in more of a unspoken clandestine way - but they will indeed continue it.

I'm sorry @Dreamer, racism is wrong, even the racism that leftists tell us is good racism.  No one should be discriminated against because of their racial group in hiring, admissions, receiving awards or grants, promotions, contracts, etc.  Even well-intentioned racism is still racism.
