    Some excerpts from the article:

"Okay, this is all just really stupid, regarding Uncle Joe's touchy-feely ways. Are we trying to pretend this was some sort of state secret?

What's really happening here is that the 76-year-old Biden is now trying mightily to reconcile the old Democrat Party of Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy with the ever-shifting liberal PC codes of the present. Biden, though, has made a critical mistake. What has he done? He's been apologizing in an effort to court the far-left. And now, on the campaign trail, the candidates who would benefit the most from a Joe-less field -- they don't care about the apologies. They're pouncing.

Joe Biden is about to politically perish on that #MeToo line. Democrat fanatics see him as one of the last remaining stumbling blocks to creating their socialist utopia. They need to stop him before he even enters the race.

"I have no reason not to believe Lucy," Bernie Sanders said in an interview on CBS. "And I think what this speaks to is the need to fundamentally change the culture of this country."

"Fundamentally change the culture of the country." Hmmm."

Biden's behavior is nothing new right?  with the little girls etc, yet he spend 8 years in the white house, he was selected, picked, thought to be the best person for the next in line for the presidency.  Would you have picked someone like that given what you know?  do you recall any outrage over that, what I consider disgusting, behavior towards little girls?  watch their expressions on the videos, yet nothing by crickets.  Selective moral outrage at it's finest.

Do not be so judgmental, friend. Touching and hugging is an absolutely natural way for people to interact, especially when there is a strong rapport between them.

In many cultures, in contrary, it would be seen as weird if a person did NOT do this kind of thing. Our society is full of sensibilities and anxieties when it comes to close interaction between individuals, but, say, in many Middle-Eastern cultures it is absolutely standard for two male friends to kiss each other when meeting after having not seen each other for a long time. Or in India, people pat each other on the shoulder all the time, even with those they have just met for the first time.

There are many things in Biden to criticize, but this is not one of them.

Ok, I see now... To be fair, he's from a generation where it was ok... This behavior is quite ok elsewhere in the world... The "personal space bubble" size is not just culturally dependent but it's also a generational thing imo...  That said, he must acknowledge that in 2019 in the US, perceptions have changed (regardless if it's a good thing or not) and change his behavior accordingly...

Doesn't really matter to me in the end as I wouldn't vote for him anyway...

dude I'm 52, that's not ok, nor do i EVER recall a time when it was, not with children, this justification and rationalizing it away is purely political.  Regardless you'd think as time went on he'd change his behavior, this is an educated man, and or others would have addressed this behavior I would think.  How come no one else his age engages in the same or similar behavior?  it never occurred to him at any point in the last oh I dunno 20+ years he needed to change and stop this?  Is he some kind of mental defect?  Dude is a closet perv in my mind there is no doubt.

in the videos with the little girls, that is your daughter, still ok because that's normal for him/his generation?

it's not about voting for him or not, it's about hypocrisy of condemning individuals but when someone else is in the wrong it's just explained away, justified, excused or rationalized.

@Applesauce so you are admitting you don't actually care about the action, your property motivation is just to point out hypocrisy and these actions by Biden or others is coming after you get to point out hypocrisy?

Also interesting that you are throwing the responsibility for Biden on every single person on the left. Plenty of people didn't like him. Plenty of people voted for both Obama and Trump. Get over your us vs them attitude.

where did I say I didn't care about the action?
I was explaining to Plaffelvohfen why "To be fair, he's from a generation where it was ok" it's no ok and why he hasn't been really condemned for doing it all these years including the 8 he was in the white house.  he also said "We have a vulgar grabber in the WH so meh......." like there's some kind of scale as the level of depravity or some kind of comparison, Trump did/said this so what Biden is doing is ok sort of thing.  Now that Biden doesn't seem to be useful to the party they are going to force him to the back of the line, because NOW what he's been doing all these years is wrong.
that plain enough for you to understand now?

Yes, I'm still ok... But I'm of French origin so there's that... We're much more demonstrative than Americans in general, our "personal space" is not as large as yours... We hug, kiss and touch when greeting people, even when introduced to new people... I often have to warn others visiting the US about this, they usually laugh at this type of puritanism but hey, better be warned than get into trouble...

I understand what you are saying especially with European cultures, but what he's doing is much more than that.  Being from Italy I have never witnessed what he does with other people's children, stranger's children in any of the areas I have been in (I only passed through France)
Now you say it's part of his generation.  He's not the only one from that generation left alive so where's the pictures and videos of other men from his generation doing the same kind of things if it is in fact normal?

Boys get kicked out of kindergarten for kissing girls these days.

I would also draw your attention to how long he keeps his hands on the children (notice they are all girls) the ones who try to pull away, he doesn't back off and in some I've seen he moves closer to them.  I just don't see this as being normal for any culture or time period.

Yes, and you approve of it? Our culture is getting overly sensitive, where soon we will not be able to even say "Hi" to someone on the streets without being criticised by moral supremacists. At least some people, like Biden, do not embrace the brave new world, which is definitely a good thing.

On a similar note, I have absolutely no problem with Trump's bus comments. While I do have certain problem with the morals behind the described behavior, ultimately nobody is supposed to be a morally ideal individual. As Berlusconi once said, "I am no saint". And that is how it should be. We need weird people, we need those who go over the societal norms and push the society's comfort zone further. Otherwise all we will have left is a society of robots all of which behave the same way.

Let Biden do his thing. I do not like his policies, and I would never vote for him (although, to be fair, he is much more tame than most Democrats these days, and him becoming the president would not be a catastrophe) - but this overreaction to a few photos is not reasonable, and is somewhat totalitarian.

As far as "normal" behaviors go, I personally could not care less what is "normal" and what is not. People who do everything in order to try to be "normal" might as well be ants in a hive, as they have no unique features and try hard to conform with the communal expectations.

It looks like Biden may be the first casualty of the Dem primaries.

The Dems may be trying to distract the public with this so that they don't focus on the much more substantial issue of Biden abusing his office for his son's gain.

    Applesauce
  • @Plaffelvohfen I must say I'm surprised to be on the opposite side of you for this issue. This absolutely should disqualify Biden. It doesn't matter what generation you are from you can't do that. And I disagree with @MayCaesar about pushing the boundaries. It's perfectly fine for people not wanting to be touched having the expectation that they won't. So you would be perfectly fine with someone walking to to you and randomly grabbing your junk because they are fighting your philosophical battle? Touching can be a health issue for people, especially getting kissed on the lips, a very easy way to spread illness. Now I'm not saying anyone should be jailed or fined for it but facing social consequences is perfectly reasonable, one of which is too be considered an inappropriate presidential candidate.

People are allowed to scream at the cashier cashing them out at Walmart, but other guests calling them out for being an asshole and shaming them, or giving other consequences is absolutely reasonable. Yelling at your cashier isn't pushing the societal boundaries, it's being a self centered asshole without regard for others. Not illegal, but ability deserving of societal consequences.

Biden has to stop pussyfooting around. This nuzzling and kissing the top of someone's head will never get him elected President. He has to grab them where they don't want to be grabbed.... THEN they'll elect him President. He'd get the respect of the evangelicals as well.
    Plaffelvohfen
  • @WordsMatter

I'm not saying it should be of no consequence, I mean, at least 2 women are clearly uncomfortable, and considering the social climate since 2010 or so, he definitely should have known better.
But I'm saying it's an American thing (and I guess Japan is even stricter), where I live though, no one would have an issue with it, at least with the kisses, shoulder grab and close whispering, it's just a fact... :/  Now if you talk about "grabbing junk" it's another matter...

I'm also saying there's a double standard with regards to Trump...

your kidding right?  when that stuff surfaced about Trump a huge deal was made about it by many in both parties.  Show me the same level reaction to what Biden has been ON FILM doing to little girls.  NOW he realizes society has changed and you shouldn't invade people's personal space, now that stuff is being said about, now he's come to the realization, though he offered no apologies to anyone he may have made feel uncomfortable.
For me there's a huge difference between what I can see with my own eyes vs what someone says.  have you never known a braggart who says things they didn't do or exaggerates them greatly?

Do old men handle little girls in the manner he does in your country?  Is that common?  strangers little girls not family members.

Yup... More so with campaigning politicians looking for photo-op, you know, kissing & hugging people and babies is normal around here for politicians... It does happen that someone gets uncomfortable when hugged or kissed by someone they don't like, of course, but it is straightened out on the spot, the politician apologizes and people move on, we do not make a big deal out of this, what do you want me to say, that's just how things are here, are you going to blame me for it?

" Adversus absurdum, contumaciter ac ridens! "
  • @Plaffelvohfen

in general I would agree with that, however this is more than hugging and kissing as evidenced by the videos of him placing his hands either directly on little girls chests or other areas.  As I said a grandfather type would do most of this stuff with children, not just girls.  I get people love children, but when an old man just focuses on girls only, yeah that's being creepy.  And when someone is pulling away or attempting to don't you think anyone in the right mind would let them go?  Or does none of this apply to Biden but it does to everyone else?
Now I'm not saying all his actions are creepy, but there are some, and I'm not understanding why you don't think so.  Perhaps I'll look up some videos of what i am talking about so you can know exactly.
