What's more Global? Religion in general, or the Internet?
in Global

By TKDBTKDB 274 Pts
Because the way I see it:

Jesus, God, and the Bible, are timeless, and more enriching, than the internet itself, could ever evolve into being?

Regardless of how some of the, "anti Jesus, God, Religion, or Bible, Movement Individuals," go about expressing what they may, or will, when they choose to?

So when the two separate topics are talked about publicly, or via the Internet:

To me Jesus, God, Religion, and the Bible, are more educational, thoughtful, neighborly, community oriented, and open heartedly giving, than the, anti Jesus, God, Religion, or Bible Movement on the Internet, currently is.

The words of Jesus Christ, are just as alive today, to those who are open minded, and open hearted, to his word's, and his faith, as they were during his days on the very face of this planet, that we ourselves, travel across, globally each day.

And the evidence, to their word's being alive?
The thousands of religious buildings around the World.

And the people, of various ages, that go to those same religious buildings, nearly everyday?

And why is this?

Because the evidence is Global, in regards, to the words of Jesus Christ, God, the Bible, and Religion in general, itself.

    • What do you mean by the term "Global?" because the rest of your post is talking about education.
    • Religion and the Internet art very two different things which are not comparable to one another.

    • The first part of your statement here cannot be adequately answered by any.
    • Who or what are calling an "Anti-religious" movement and where is your evidence for this movement?
    • Have you thought that it might be that you view people that do not share the same faith as you as anti-religious? You have also stated in previous posts from other related debates that Jesus is God. The Jews believe in God but don't believe that Jesus is God; so does that mean the Jews are anti-religious because of this? Furthermore, if you've actually studied religion extensively you will have come across that Jesus spent some time in India with Buddhist Monks; he accepted them, and they accepted him; both parties accepted each other for whom they were and what they believed in; none of them saw the other as anti-religious because they shared differing views from one another.

    • To my knowledge there is no such thing as a virtualized collective anti-religious movement. I highly doubt there is an absurd group of people that at a certain time of day conspire with one another and take to their seats to spread anti-religious dogma around the Internet.

Since you have this view about God and Jesus Christ and that you claim that you hold this view about Religion in General then shouldn't it follow then that you also hold the same view about all world religions including Monotheistic, Polytheistic, non-theistic etc such as?:
    • Judaism (including humanistic Judaism, Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, Messianic Judaism, etc)

The Internet is really just a medium. There is plenty of things here, some timeless and others are not.

I do not find ancient religious books to be particularly educational and enlightening; they are interesting from the historical perspective, to understand how people thought at the time - but they hardly have any relevance in the modern world.

The Internet is full of amazing materials. I have learned an insane amount of graduate-level math just by browsing informational websites and e-books and talking to people on forums. To me, this knowledge is much more useful, than some old stories about angels and demons. Granted, I love fantasy as well, and the Internet has plenty of it, in the form of e-books, video games, movies, art, etc. I just do not find it particularly educational, with rare exception of stories that get you thinking about the world and change your values.

The Internet largely is not anti-religious, it is religious-indifferent. You are fooling yourself if you genuinely believe that everyone who is not interested in religion is anti-religion. I definitely am not anti-religion; I am indifferent towards other people's religions. I just do not find religions themselves all that interesting beyond their historical and fantasy value. But then, there are more interesting things about history than religions, and as far as the fantasy genre goes, old religious books are pretty mediocre reads.

You are solely entitled to your own opinion, and perception.

The internet is artificial, and limited, by how some, use the internet to manipulate others.

    A prime example:
The Illegal immigrants, or illegal aliens, problems.

Those illegal immigrant, or illegal alien supporters, and the politics of those 300 Sanctuary cities, are the individuals who are solely fooling themselves as well.

And the internet, is, and has been used to manipulate the Public, by pushing for Open Borders, and the illegal immigrants supporting messaging?

And what's timeless, and educational, and organic is that, I've yet to see any Internet evidence, where Jesus Christ himself, or God, has been using the Internet, to manipulate the Public, with their own word's, or messaging?

  • @TKDB Religion is global because it attempts to give a detailed image of afterlife and comfort those who fear death, the very concept that makes almost everyone fearful. On the other hand, the Internet is global because it is cheap and accessible to countless people. I think the Internet is more global than any kind of religion(I am comparing the internet with only one type of religion, not all religions). Regarding your claim that religion is more enriching than the Internet, I disagree with you.The Internet has far more things to learn than any religious book can offer.

"The Internet has far more things to learn than any religious book can offer."

    The internet offers:

    Black Lives Matters.
So when it comes to the other cultures in the United States, what about those lives?

Do they maybe matter less, when it apparently comes to the Black Lives Matters movement?

    White Supremacy.
    The Anti Religious crowds.
    The NRA.
    The Socialist Liberals.
(The special interests movements, speak for themselves.)

    Various types of Abortion conversations.
Adoption is more educational, and enriching than abortion is.
Giving an unborn baby, a chance at living a life, is more humane (outside of rape or incest) than aborting a baby because two people had a random intimate moment, and both were mentally lazy about using birth control?
Again adoption is more enriching than abortion is.

    The Marijuana Industry.
The Pro Drug crowds, who support the marijuana user's use.
A parent using medical, or recreational marijuana around their own kids or families, isn't enriching, it's anti Child, and anti Family.

The Pro Illegal immigrant, and Illegal alien, Sanctuary Cities, and Open Borders crowds.
What about the rights of the legal US citizens, who live in those same cities, with the illegal immigrant population?

    The Pro Gun Extremists crowd.
The Second Amendment provides Zero rights, to any US citizen who owns an illegal gun, of any type.

Now can you tell me, what is so educational, enriching, about the above special interest movements?

@TKDB You stated several things that can be found in the Internet. However, what you stated is only an infinitesimal fraction of things you can get from the Internet. In addition, you looked only at the negative part of the Internet, which shows that you have biased attitude toward the Internet. I will make a list of the benefits of the Internet and the things you can obtain from it.

-Various studies and researches conducted by professionals
    -Location of house/theatre/museum/gallery/memorial/parents' house/dangerous areas
-You can order food and stuffs without having to visit the restaurants and malls
-You don't have to visit foreign cointries to get exotic things
    -You can read books
    -You can download movies/series/documentary videos
    -Email
    -You can listen to lectures
-You can see many videos taken in other countries
    -You can find definitions
    -You can become more open-minded
    -You can get countless services
    -You can make reservations
-You can share your belief/viewpoint/story with others
-You can get countless information about health
-You can actually check if doctors/sellers/politicians/intellectuals are making claims
    - You can check the face/voice of dangerous suspect
-You can get weapons to protect yourself(in the U.S)
    -Weather forecast
    -Free high quality education

Things I mentioned above are just a small fraction of what you can get from the Internet. Even though the Internet has some bad aspects, it is irrational to jump to conclusion that the Internet is not enriching. It is like claiming that since science has many bad aspects, it is useless.

I am not aware of any tool more effective than religion at manipulating others. Christianity and Islam alone led to hundreds totalitarian regimes, hundreds millions killed and billions subjected to vicious propaganda twisting their minds.

The Internet is merely a medium. It can be used to manipulate others, but still the tool is needed, and religion often happens to be that tool.

Your anti-freedom rhetoric is an illustration of that effect. You are against basic human rights, because your religion tells you that exercising many of them is a sin. What business do you have criticizing the Internet and defending religion, when it is religion that causes you to have such skewed beliefs?

  • @TKDB It seems that you are too narrow-minded and biased to even have a proper conversation with me. You only look at the bad side of the Internet. If I only look at the bad side of the religion, I can certainly say that religion gets rid of people's ability to think critically. I can also say that religion doesn't teach you how to maintain your health properly. Imagine a situation where there are two people, one who gains knowledge only from religion and the other who gains knowledge from the Internet. Let's call the former R and the latter I. While R will most likely suffer from many diseases because he doesn't know how to deal with them except by praying to God who will of course not help him, I will definitely be able to deal with not only diseases but also many other problems that lurk around us. Religion may teach you to love others and behave morally(although morality is quite subjective), but it can't really make you strong and informed enough to deal with many dangerous situations. Moreover, if you actually think that religion is more enriching than the Internet, how can you account for the barbaric incidents done in the name of God in the Middle Ages when Christianity was widely accepted? If you just look at the Western history, especially the Medieval Age, you will realize that religion didn't really make people more educated, civilized, and peaceful.

The Illegal immigrants from Mexico, and the other countries from South of the Southern border, are being shoved down the throat of the United States, 22 million of them.

Is that what Freedom looks like to you @MayCaesar?

And the illegal citizens from Mexico, what business do they have, to abuse the Illegal Immigration Laws of the United States?

And how many illegal immigrant males, have raped the illegal immigrant females, while coming into the U.S. illegally?

I fail to see how the fact that religion has not caused illegal immigration from Mexico disproves the claim that religion has been the most effective tool at manipulating humans.

Do you ever try to employ basic logical rules in your arguments? You lash at the Internet for all possible since, but whenever someone points out something that religion caused, you immediately say, "Oh, but it did not cause all things I dislike in human history, so it is blameless". • One cannot help wonder why the OP has such a hostile attitude toward not only the Internet in general but also for those other regions that do not share the same individual version of the Christian religion as his, as well as toward those that are merely just not religious individuals?

I say this not only for reasons based on this particular topic but also for reasons based on other related discussions with the OP in previous times. For example, I once started a discussion about the positive aspects of non-theistic religions such as Buddhism, and was accused of being anti-religious by the OP.

It seems to me that the OP sees anyone that does not follow Christianity (at least according to the individual way that the OP sees Christianity according to his own mindset) is apparently "Anti-religious," "Anti-Christ," "Anti-God," "Anti Bible," "Anti Religious" and Richard Dawkins is the ring leader!

The Good news however, is that there are many peaceful loving kind and educated Christians around the world that are accepting and tolerable of all individuals of all faith as well as those without faith; the OP would do well to follow their example.

In the comment above, you stated that religion is not responsible for bad effects but the people who use religion in bad way is to blame. Okay, by your logic, I too can say that the Internet is not responsible for bad effects but the people who use it in bad way is solely to blame. Moreover, you stated that the Internet is misused by people who support things you find evil. So, you have just proved with your mouth that the person who misuses the Internet is the one who actually deserves criticism. The Internet leaves room for almost everyone. People can make their own platforms and spread their beliefs. The Internet does not force people to believe certain set of ideas. It just makes these ideas widely available to people who use the Internet. People can either support or oppose the ideas. If certain ideas become widely accepted by majority of people, it is not because the Internet somehow manipulates people's minds, but because the number of supporters is greater than the number of the opposers.

This is the reason why I claimed that you are not addressing my arguments properly. My main argument was that the Internet is more enriching than religion(which I proved legitimately). But instead of addressing my argument with EVIDENCE, you just spammed list of atrocies that did not even back up your argument that religion is more enriching than the Internet. Moreover, you only cherry pick bad sides of the Internet, instead of also looking at its benefits. You don't know how to argue properly. You act like a child who claims that he is always right. It is funny to see a person who is totally inconsistent like you. Maybe you should learn how to write proper argumentative essay at school.

And you're solely entitled to your individual Opinion, and perception.

Do you know why Religion is more enriching, and educational, than the internet is?

Because the internet cannot personally feed the homeless, or provide clothing, or shelter to the homeless.

But various Religious organizations, have fed the homeless, and provided clothing, and shelters to the homeless.

Because the internet isn't able to teach whole family values, or whole community values.

When I've gone to a Religious building, the message is about whole family values, and community values.

I cherish humanity, I cherish kids, born and unborn, I cherish family, and I cherish people choosing to be Athiest, Theists, Religious, or what have you.

Where are your counter arguments for the below?

    (Or just attack me more?)

Rape is spam. Rape trolled, on its innocent victims. Rape is idiotic.

Abortion is spam. Abortion trolls on unborn babies. Abortion outside of rape or incest, is idiotic.

Gun Violence crimes, are spam. Gun Violence trolls on its innocent victims.
    Gun violence, is idiotic.

    The witch hunt, was spam.
    -The Crusades, was spam.
    -Thirty Years War, was spam.
    -The Inquisition, was spam.
-Islamic Jihads, is, and was spam.
    -Thuggee Murder, was spam.
    -Aztec Human Sacrifice", was spam.

    And you're off topic.

Talking about me, isn't the theme of this forum.

Well, since talking to you has proven futile, then talking about you seems much more fruitful. :smirk:

The theme of the forum is this.

What's more Global? Religion in general, or the Internet?

"Well, since talking to you has proven futile, then talking about you seems much more fruitful."

    What's more fruitful?

    Pandering to your ideology?

Or facing such Real Life Global questions like the ones below?

Rape is spam. Rape trolled, on its innocent victims, and rape is idiotic.

Abortion is spam. Abortion trolls on unborn babies, and abortion outside of rape or incest, is idiotic.

Gun Violence crimes, are spam. Gun Violence trolls on its innocent victims.
    Gun violence, is idiotic.

The witch hunt, and blaming it on Religion, is what anti religious spam looks like.

-The Crusades, and blaming it on Religion, is what anti religious spam looks like.

-Thirty Years War, and blaming it on Religion, is what anti religious spam looks like.

-The Inquisition, and blaming it on Religion, is what anti religious spam looks like.

-Islamic Jihads, is, and blaming it on Religion, is what anti religious spam looks like.

-Thuggee Murder, and blaming it on Religion, is what anti religious spam looks like.

-Aztec Human Sacrifice", and blaming it on Religion, is what anti religious spam looks like.

The Anti Religious on the internet, is what the anti religious fruitfulness looks like.

Really? I thought you're original post said the opposite? Now you think your self created fictitious Anti-Religious cult movement on the Internet where Richard Dawkins is the Ring Leader is actually now more fruitful to you? Please sir, make your mind up.

    @ZeusAres42

And you're not on the internet, to not individually push your non supporting Opinion in regards to Religion on the internet?

You're letting your imagination, run away with your mouth.

And what is this bizarre language from your mind about?

"Really? I thought you're original post said the opposite?"

"Now you think your self created fictitious Anti-Religious cult movement on the Internet where Richard Dawkins is the Ring Leader is actually now more fruitful to you? Please sir, make your mind up."

Please withdrawl your rhetoric spinning tongue from my mouth, and refrain from putting your own words in my mouth.

    It's weird.

You've got as much "Imagination," in print via your own rhetoric on this website, just as much as Dawkins has in Published print, to cater, pander, and coddle his individual Athiest fanbase followers.

It's just as weird, watching people using the internet to make money off of the Athiest Ideology, isn't it?

So Jesus Christ, God, and the Bible, were, and are more Global, then the artificial Internet, could ever hope to be used by some to manipulate the Globe with?

What's more Global? Religion in general, or the Internet?

The Internet is a complicit tool being used by the Athiests, the Theists, and the anti religious in general, and used it to spread their collective messaging?

  • @TKDB Keep on making straw man arguments. You GENUINELY think that your arguments are valid and my arguments are weak. However, you still haven't shown that religion is more enriching than the Internet. I never see you providing EVIDENCE that supports your claim.

And you are entitled to your agenda driven Opinion.

Being that Jesus Christ, God, and Religion, are more Global, than your Opinion driven argument is.
