Is hate speech a moral right?

Debate Information

I say no. Hate speech often results in suicide, and no one has the right to motivate someone to suicide. I almost decided to kill myself due to hate speech from religious people.

You don't have the right to say hateful things. People who do that are verbal rapists.

There is no such thing as "verbal rapist". You cannot force your words on anyone, and anyone has the right to shrug and ignore what you are saying. it is quite different from the actual rape, where the individual cannot walk away.

Your entire argument is based on the false assumptions that words lead to suicides. No, they do not; people's reactions to words can, however, and it is up to them to change their reactions. Nobody forces you to get upset over a bunch of sound waves caught by your ears. You can dismiss them as noise with no repercussions.
