Well, I think Borris Johnson and the current government are clearly failing as leaders. And I think how they've gone about managing this crisis is evidence of that.
In the UK,
- The government says they've been acting in accordance with the scientific advice all along. The truth is they acted slowly and downplayed the whole thing. I find it insulting that they continue to lie about their initial mistakes. If they conceded and acknowledged their initial mistakes and slowness they might be respected a bit more. Also, Patric Vallance at the beginning said something ridiculous about allowing a large portion to get infected so as to build some sort of immunity. And yes, he did say this; I even remember watching him say it. To quote William Hanague "When I heard about Britain's 'herd immunity' coronavirus plan, I thought it was satire. William Hanage: professor of epidemiology and infectious diseases at Harvard
- The Government has promised to do at least one hundred thousand tests a day by the end of the month. The truth is we're only at about twenty-one thousand tests a day and we were promised 25k a day almost a month ago.
- The Government promised to deliver PPE to front line workers. Today, however, PPE is being delayed.
- Borris Johnson had always been very hesitant to do a nation-wide lockdown. The only reason he did it was because he finally faced a full-scale mutiny if he didn't do it.
In the brief, the government has clearly failed in crisis leadership.
