Does looting and rioting fix anything?

Hey I’m here in the Twin Cities where Minneapolis is an active war zone with the same violence spreading to St. Paul. A lot of my friends are saying things like “property can be replaced, a life cannot” or “if your white and don’t understand/don’t think that the looting is right, you should because you don’t know who a person of color feels.”
My question is, is it valid to argue that rioting and looting stores will really solve police violence, and is it ok to argue that a building can be rebuilt and merchandise replaced, even if the building and the merchandise belongs to a small business that didn’t have anything to do with George Floyd’s death?
