The word soul can mean different things to different people. Religious followers for example, believe the x-factor that is their thoughts and personality are embedded in a soul which presumably carries on for eternity.
Being involved in music I know all too well that we use soul to describe an unquantifiable character about a piece of music or a musical instrument. And listen to jazz and soul musicians...they talk as if a person is actually soul.
It got me to think therefore that why don't religious people use the word soul to actually mean the embodiment of a person? After all, (according to religious belief) we only rent our flesh and bones for a short visit on planet earth, therefore what really is us is our soul.
And what better example to exemplify the essence of oneself as being soul, than religious preachers. So, perhaps next time all you God followers go to a Church service you should stand up after prayer and shout out resoundingly to the preacher, "You are soul".
