The Story Of The Founding Of Christianity

Debate Information

@Sonofason ;
What exactly do you have against exiled hermits?

Oh, nothing at all. After all, one would expect them to be highly educated, fair-minded upstanding examples of pillars of society.

So, the scruffy, smelly individuals walk into my publishing office one day and say............
"Ahemmm, like I know there was no gold and riches in the town like we predicted but ahhh, welll lookie here. Boy, have we got something for you....these are genuine, yes you heard it, genuine scriptures that sort of washed into our cave after 300 years lying in the dead sea, and look here, it says, word of God! Now, like that's got to be real doesn't it?

After picking themselves out of the gutter following a very hasty exit from my office, they run into a guy wearing gaudy gold jewelry, sunglasses and white shoes. "Yeah sure, I'll buy them off you...here's 3 Shekel, now nick off." Next thing, our illustrious charlatan is spruiking the scriptures to the authorities of the day and he knows that, in order to get a good price, he needs to sell the sizzle, not the sausage. So he comes up with this cleaver concept of religion...."You know gov, like they do over there in the neighboring continent so's they can control the people. And we just make up a name for a sort of iconic figurehead to be the face of the product, then, Bob's your uncle, we got our own religion like." .......
"Jesus Christ, that sounds good",
 says the official.
"There you go, great idea gov, we'll call the geezer Jesus Christ".
And that's the story of the birth of Christianity

    Christianity was founded by and upon the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ who is God incarnate via the hypostatic union of God and man (Philippians 2:8). Those who follow the teaching and example of Jesus Christ as God and Mediator for sin are called Christians. Jesus taught that all of mankind is condemned to Hell because of sin that cannot be permitted to enter the Kingdom of God (Revelation 21:27) and it is sin that creates a chasm between God the Father and human kind, but God the Father did not leave mankind in a hopeless condition but sent the Son, Jesus Christ, as Messiah who lived a sinless, perfect, life and walked to the horrors of a Roman Crucifixion and offered Himself as a substitutionary death, atonement, for our sin (2 Corinthians 5:21) and anyone who believes in their heart that Jesus is God who died to pay their sin-debt and believes that Jesus was resurrected from the dead for their justification leading to eternal life, this person so believing and confessing Jesus with their mouth, they will be redeemed from sin and given a new life and granted eternal life, eternal life to begin with the death of the body in Time (Romans 10:9-10; John 11:25; 2 Corinthians 5:8).

    Upon the death? There is a slight discrepancy of some 300 years or so there isn't there?

    @Swolliw ; No discrepancy...just your lack of knowledge concerning spiritual matters as you foolishly war against our Creator.

    And of course, the problem with that is that there is no way of corroborating the accounts written which is probably fruitless anyway. Just about all literature at the time was grossly exaggerated myths and was never intended as historical or evidential documentary.
