Delusional or Hallucinatory?

Debate Information

Is there a difference between these two words?

For example, it would be appropriate to call theists delusional.

Delusion: an idiosyncratic belief or impression maintained despite being contradicted by reality or rational argument, typically as a symptom of mental disorder.

Since we are talking about the belief of a perceived God, we could also use the expression, "theists are hallucinatory".

Hallucinate: experience a seemingly real perception of something not actually present, typically as a result of a mental disorder or of taking drugs.

Noted biologist and academic, Richard Dawkins used the word "hallucinating" whilst addressing a Christian who claimed that he has met Jesus and walked with God.

So, the question is, should we refer to ardent religious followers as delusional or hallucinatory?
