You know how it is getting up in the mornings. This morning I got up and did I ever feel like an old man (usually it's young boys)? Nevertheless I nonchalantly sipped on an orange juice whilst catching up with the news as the wife prepared breakfast then, out the door, listening to my favourite morning show on the way to work; I pretty well go through the same routine each day.
But, isn't that how religion works? For those so inclined, the daily ritual of bending over five times a day and far-ting towards the east is a regular part of everyday life. Similarly, standing around after Sunday service, sipping lukewarm cups of tea between two fingers with a forced smile upon one's dial is something that ardent Christians wouldn't miss for the world.
We could quite well function without going through these little rituals but, isn't that, for must of us, what it's all about, just going through the ritual?
