Is the banning of CRT a violation of the freedom of speech in America?

1. There can be a debate about CRT ( critical race theory ), in fact, we had one here. This is fine.
2. Governments are now banning books and ideas. That seems to be a clear violation of the 1rst amendment, and mostly, from right leaning governments.
3. Therefore, I say that banning what teachers can teach by governments is out and out government censorship. If we truly believe in the freedom of speech, we should allow teachers to decide what should be taught in schools, and NOT the government.Trump styled himself as a staunch defender of free speech and threatened and attacked the free press because he didn't like what they said. The right is punishing and banning free speech. The left is accused of it.. I don't find too many examples from the left.
