A question to the theists mainly but other people are also welcome to join in. So, to the theists what is meant by you when you talk of the word "faith?" And why do you have faith in the God of your religion and not of another? Also, why do you use the term "faith?" and not words such as "promise," "trust," "confidence," or "hope," for example? Actually, if you were not able to use the word faith then what word would you use in place of it?
Furthermore, for a while, I have noticed that within my own interactions as well as that of watching other people's with theists is that the word faith is often used in place of logical explanations, evidence, etc for the belief in God. This is obviously, an admittance that you don't know with complete certainty that God does actually exist. So why use faith? Would you not rather want to actually know with certainty that God does exist? So why use faith? Does it seem right to you that what you have faith in could actually be based on an untruth - a lie?
So what is faith to you and why do you have it?
