How much further advanced would our technology be?
Technology has advanced with break-neck speed since the Industrial Revolution. In the past fifty years alone, advances in technology have accelerated at a phenomenal rate and continue to do so. One of the most absurd announcements ever made; completely devoid of forethought was attributed to one Charles H. Duell, Commissioner of the US Patent Office who in 1899 proclaimed
"Everything that can be invented has been invented". Was he just looking for early retirement or could it be......just on a wild off chance......that he was religiously motivated?
As we all (should) know, the Christian religion has traditionally approached advances in technology with just a tad of trepidation.....oh well, let's be quite open about it shall we?.....They absolutely hate the guts out of science since it has pretty well overturned all their nutty beliefs about creation and mysterious bits of animated ether prowling the universe.
So, given the influence that the Christian religion has had over societies over the past hundreds of years, could it be that modern, civilised society would be much more advanced than it is now?
(Oh, and @Maxx ....cut all the delaying crap about "how do you define technology", etc, etc., ad finitum...huh, how about it....just for once?)
