a lot of interventions of the minor sort rely on positive talk and bolstering of the ego pretty obvious when you think of it
That's exactly what its all about 100%. They are taught charlatanism at chiropractic school (huh, they certainly don't learn anything else) and they are taught all the sales lines. "I'm just going to engage my activator on this subdermal subluxation but you must keep perfectly still" (translated......I'm doing nothing")
In reply to "Hey bozo, you have no valid qualifications"........"I studied in (another country) and that is a proper qualification".........So-called "diplomas are issued by the ACA itself and are not recognised by the AMA. For an exorbitant fee (chiropractors are ripped-off by their own governing body) a quack can travel to another country, fill out a questionnaire and a "diploma" is given to them which they place on their "surgery" wall with all their other bogus certificates such as "advanced diploma" and "specialist diploma". I took a photo of a reception wall and had to stand well back to get it all in. A bona fide medical practitioner has but one certificate on his wall...an MD issued by a bona fide governing body.
Eeeeeww! According to this X-Ray (which the patient was made to obtain at full price from an X-Ray service that deals in under-counter referral fees) your spine has a noticeable bend in it...see here (puts a ruler on X-Ray) and well, it looks like we need to do some work as soon as possible before it gets worse....is next Tuesday okay or would you prefer next Wednesday for your initial appointment? The fact is that every human spine has a bend in it because we have only been on two feet for only one and a half million years and the spine has not yet fully developed from our four-legged predecessors (ouch...that's a crack in the spine for creationists who are the ones usually gullible enough to go to quacks).
So Doc, am I going to walk out of here without the lower back pain that I now have? "Oh, no, the subluxation needs to settle in and it may take days or weeks to come right so we will make another appointment for next week or would the following week be more suitable?" The fact is that all back pain comes and goes in varying degrees with different people, regardless of "manipulation" or not.
"Well we can see a noticeable improvement with your spine....see here (angles the ruler a bit straighter than last time on X-Ray). So, we still have a fair bit more work in front of us.....would you like your next appointment on the 20th or the 22nd?
I studied and visited seven chiropractors (three of them twice) and each one of them came out with those same lines pretty much word for word.
