Should the circumcision of infants and young children be banned?

It is a permanent life altering surgery that doesn't serve any real purpose, and it is done entirely without the consent of the person who it's being preformed on, this is really messed up and bad, people who are fine with this really don't have any place being against gender transitioning children surgically (which is also terrible) I'm specifically talking about Ben Shapiro,

That said, circumcision is very important to some people for religious reasons, people genuinely believe that they have to circumcise their children no matter what, so if it where banned people would probably still do it anyway, assuming that we don't do something tyrannical like letting the government inspect everyone's weiner, and we shouldn't do that, that said, it's a relatively simple procedure, so the risk of people being harmed by a black market surgery is almost zero, I doubt there would be many more accidents, it wouldn't eliminate it, but it would probably make it far less common, and that's a good thing.

Although there might also be the issue that Jewish people would see this as oppression and might revolt, so that's a pretty good reason not to ban it.
