Let's debate the theory of evolution.

Debate Information

Position: For
I think it would be good if a debate where to be held on evolution, by which I mean, the process in which natural selection of genes over time leads to the changing of an animal to a significant degree, to begin I'll lay out my argument:

The way evolution works is that over millions of years, there will inevitably be genetic mutations that effect an animal, mutations that improve this animal's chances at surviving and breeding are far more likely to be passed down so that their offspring will also carry the gene, as it gives them an advantage, they will out breed animals without these genes and in the future all animals of that type will have such genes, for example, a human living in Africa will be far more likely to be healthy and live long enough to reproduce many times, if they have skin that is fitting for their environment, so already existing genes leading to darker skin will become more successful, and so will genetic mutations. The existence of races, as I just showed you, is actually evidence for this process, the same is true for the breeding of dogs, though selectively breeding dogs with certain traits, we are making it so that these genes will be passed down, and over time, if these traits keep being selectively passed down, the animal will demonstrate these traits to a very extreme degree, the likes of which one genetic mutation rarely leads to, so with this we know that the process is real, now what is often debated is whether that is our origin, and it seems that all evidence points to it being the case, paleontological evidence shows us that the animals that exist today can usually only be found after a certain date, while animals that no longer exist can only be found before a certain date, so it is only reasonable to assume that this process which has demonstrated itself to be real, is the thing that lead to the existence of our current animals. So I think this pretty much proves it evolution to be real.
