Uhh, I dunno that..  We have an example of what extremism looks like, right here on these boards.  Can it prevail??   It CAN, and HAS.  The French have experience with extremism in their back yard, and that's why they did what they did.. But, Americans have no such experience.  Maybe we need some of that.  Again, you can read, on these very boards, people telling you that it's fine to give Trump unlimited power, but we shouldn't worry because we can trust him.  

Riiiight!  Freedom is hard.  Freedom is messy.  And, there's always somebody around the corner willing to take it away from you.   Thank goodness there are people willing to stand up.

I wonder how many people who call Marie Le Pen an "extremist" have ever listened to what she has to say. She is a pretty classic European politician who dares to say a couple of apparently "controversial" things today, such as that those who break the law should be punished, or that building a country's national identity around perpetual guilt and shame is not the brightest idea. American journalists will call her an "extremist" for wanting to forgo the Euro and restore the original French currency, even as the US has its own currency and no one bats an eye.

I am no fan of her politics, but it is regretful how childish these discussions have become. No nuance whatsoever, no attention for details... You are either a good guy, or you are a "far right extremist / far left extremist". I had better political conversations in elementary school than this.

I have been amazed at how easily so many Democrats have said 'yes,sir.  Master, sir' and have remained on the Biden planation after the world saw he isn't cognitively able to put coherent sentences together, let alone lead the US.  You would think that if Trump were really this existential threat as they claim, then there would be a greater sense of urgency in removing Biden to keep the 'orange bad man' out of office.  It seems that we now know, they really believe Trump is not all that bad after all.

The Republicans are literally running ads that say 'A vote for Biden, is a vote for a Kamala Harris presidency'.  Harris is less popular than Pennywise at a preschool birthday party.  And Pennywise is less cringy too.

The media have covered for Biden his entire career.  His lies are frequent and vile.  He falsely said that the driver who was in the accident where his first wife and child died was a drunk driver and recklessly killed them.  However, the police report did not find the man at fault.  Biden repeatedly lied and said his son died in battle in Iraq.  His son was a JAG officer who was not on the front line and died of brain cancer.  Biden has several standard lies he brings at various functions - if there is a Black person in the crowd - Biden will lie and say he was arrested for protesting civil rights. If there is a first responder in the crowd, Biden will tell how his home burned to the ground and how he barely survived a kitchen fire (there was a fire, but it was not as dramatic as Biden claims).  There are hundreds of other tales - and the media has heard them dozens of times, yet they never call him out on them.

The media have known of Biden's mental decline for some time and have instead said Republicans were lying when the issue came up.  The media have shown they will do the bidding of the Democrats because they share their extreme views.  They will lie and say there was Russian collusion about Trump, but deny that Biden has cognitive issues.  Democracy dies in the darkness - and when the media closes its eyes and looks the other way.

Well that may appear to be like that to you because your pretty extreme any way. Things like birth control in the reel world are not extreme stuff but because your way out there with your ideas any thing that is moderate seems to be extreme to you.

Point taken. If we want to be political correct about it she is far right. It doesn't take to much sents to realize that if she ever gets in to power it could be a stepping stone for extremists to get there say. Look what happened in USA. Trump got in and he is really a strong moderate but the red necks use it as a stepping stone to spew out there views.
