A Harvard psychologist says people judge you based on 2 criteria when they first meet you. Agree?

Debate Information

In her new book, "Presence," Cuddy says that people quickly answer two questions when they first meet you:

  • Can I trust this person?
  • Can I respect this person?

i didn't read the book yet, but as I read this article I thought how that would apply to people we are debating on this site.
to me trust and respect is based on your user name, points listed under your name, if I debated with you before, and quality of your arguments.

i think that understanding how we are percieved is useful to be more successful in life.  Intuitively I agree with the summary and adding the book to my reading list backlog.

First impressions are everything.  I read the lizzard brain book, which is similar to that one about neuroscience and completely agree.

I completely agree, humans have instincts etc. form animals such as lizards. I am sure that somewhere, our brains signal us on impressions.
