Crime Problem America - Solution?

Debate Information

Crime Problem America?

I spent 31.4-years of my life in law enforcement in uniform. In the 90's when we had the three-strikes your out adjudication standard (3-convictions and you receive full sentencing up to life) we had almost NOTHING to do during our shift as the 5% of the populous that offended was tucked away for a very long time.

If our legislators truly want peace in the streets, schools, communities, put these narcissistic thugs into prison and throw away the key; there is no mental health - deterrence model that will provide a significant difference in our fatherless, godless, divisive, undisciplined, perverse, atheistic, society other than strict enforcement with the surety of painful punishment.

I think that one solution is slavery which is practiced by the Red Chinese right now.    The smart Chinese, never ones to waste resources, simply build Gulags with factories and put their criminals to work supporting themselves.      If they can not behave inside as slaves, the practical Chinese simply take them outside and put a 15 cent bullet through their heads.    This genetically removes those people who are extremely violent, repeat offenders, and the very career criminals .who are completely irreformable, and who do so much damage and so much grief to the rest of society.
  • RickeyDRickeyD 901 Pts   -
@Bogan ; In America, we make an attempt to adhere to the Bill of Rights unless a preborn child is inconvenient or a conservative Christian Patriot has run afoul of the law, then it's whatever the liberals can get away with and to Hades with due process and adjudicatory standards.

  • BoganBogan 203 Pts   -

You had the same Bill of Rights during your slavery period of history, did you not?    In any case, just like when homosexuals got around the Australian constitution by trashing the Marriage Act (which was part of our Constitution) by simply changing the meaning of words like "male" and "female" to "persons", I am sure you guys could play word games too.    Just redefine "All men" (which is sexist anyway" to anyone who is not a repeat offender.   In any case, what is the difference between a slave and person on a chain gang?

Your execution industry could do with some work, too.    I hear that in the USA some people can wait 30 years to be executed?    The British system, which you rebels saw fit to rebel against, specified "no more than three Sundays between conviction and execution" which I think was far more efficient and far less costly to maintain.

Well Bill, if you really think that the only solution is to be rid of all criminals once are for all, why not just shoot them? It sure would save a lot of money.

Of course we all know that he would like to do this to people who use drugs, and gay people, because he is an enemy of liberty. We should not tolerate people like him, it's time to stop putting up with people who wish to enslave us.

It is probably because of how inefficient the law enforcement was back then. Here is the violent crime statistic in the US from 1990 on:

In the 90-s the crime rates were approximately double what they are nowadays. That you had almost nothing to do during your shift, perhaps, explains that. In other words, as the people were getting robbed and killed left and right, you just walked around with the Bible in your pocket and prayed to your god. This "atheistic society" nowadays appears to be much more peaceful than back in your days, old dog.

Was quite different back when America was truly a religious land. Those were times when one had to hire an armed escort to travel from one state to another, due to all the highwaymen on the roads. Perhaps, Rickey, you want to go back there? Your god apparently loves highwaymen, when he populates heavily Christian lands with them. ;)

As I understand it, Christian principles have gone right out of the window when dealing with criminals.   Criminals were once thought by Christian people to be bad sinners and all they had to do to return to the fold was to repent and be good.    Nobody believes that crap anymore.       As i understand it, most crime and the worst crimes is committed by a minority of repeat offenders and no amount of bible bashing or psychological counselling is ever going to change that.    The "three strikes and your out" law was a recognition that these repeat offenders were simply unreformable and while ever they were out on the streets they were committing crimes.  No amount of prison time was ever going to change that.   no amount of religious preaching was ever going to change that.   All you could do to protect the public was to lock them away in human warehouses until they died, at fantastic cost to the public.   But it was still cheaper in terms of treasure, sweat, tears, and grief, than letting them run around loose.     That some people appear to be born criminals was even examined in the old Hollywood movie "The Bad Seed."

Could I opine that crime is concentrated among certain ethnic groups who's numbers are increasing through birth rate differentials and immigration.   So, whether you like it or not, crime in western societies is going tokeep spiraling upwards unless we keep banging the young male populations in warehouses for life.    This seems a bit silly to me.    What needs to be done is to look at the unpleasant facts.   Recogniise that much western crime is ethnic related and stop importing members of those ethnic groups into your western society.   As for the crime prone minority groups already in the country, pay them not to breed.   White and Asian people are already paying to keep most of them anyway so gear their welfare payments to their breeding habits.   First kid, full welfare.   Second kid, halve it.  Third kid, halve it again.     Fark their human rights.

At the moment things are goimg the other way.   How about this example?     This from a US newspaper.

Man fathers 21 children by 11 different women... and he's only 29

A man aged 29 has fathered 21 children with 11 different women, it emerged yesterday.

Desmond Hatchett's brood came to light after authorities in Tennessee in the U.S. took him to court for non-payment of child support.     He has apparently set a U.S. record but said: 'It just happened.'     He's the daddy: Desmond Hatchett speaks to reporters about his prolific brood    He added that he would not have any more children. 'I'm done. I'll say I'm done,' he said.     Hatchett, who earns a minimal wage, told TV reporters he knows the names and ages of all his offspring.      Their ages range from newborn to 11 years old.    Authorities in Knoxville said they plan to take half of his monthly salary to pay for the youngsters but officials said that would work out to just over £1 a week for each.     His lawyer Keith Pope said: 'The children can't all be supported by Desmond, so the state of Tennessee has had to step in.'

Many Knoxville residents called for him to be castrated.

He even boasted of fathering four children by different women in the same year.    Hatchett's name appeared on court documents 11 times representing 15 of his 21  children.   U.S. authorities are now braced for more women coming forward to claim Hatchett is the father of their children after he appeared on local TV.    He said the women he was involved with all knew he had other children.    One mother, who has two children with Hatchett, said she should get £44 a month but rarely receives any child support.    'It's frustrating, but usually, when I ask he gives it to me,' she said.

Authorities in Knoxville ordered Hatchett to court  to explain how he intends to pay child support.    He arrived for the hearing with just over $600.

Get your crime prone minorities birth rate below replacement level or it is not going to end well, and things will just get worse and worse until you realise that I am right and the unthinkable becomes the thinkable.

@MayCaesar ; No...had nothing to do with law enforcement and everything to do with doing the crime and doing the time...prisoners, especially those who used a weapon in the commission of their crime, did the full sentence...that segment of the population who had a very high recidivism rate were in prison and not offending in public...all was good.

I grew up when America (50's-60's) was led by the Greatest Generation and the family unit was intact and Jesus was worshiped and the Churches packed on Sunday...this in Houston, TX and we slept with our windows open, keys could be left in the vehicle, dairy products were left on the front porch, I could ride my bicycle for miles and there was never any concern for safety....children rode their bikes to school, walked to school...walked the malls as was not until the hippies of the 60's gave birth to our first truly godless ilk and it's been downhill ever probably represent that perverse generation as an atheist?

  • MayCaesarMayCaesar 4800 Pts   -   edited May 29

The two do not compute. If the law enforcement had been as efficient as it is now, then double the crime rates would imply double the amount of work for the law enforcement officers - yet that is not what you claim was the case. So either the law enforcement officers were not doing their job as thoroughly as they do nowadays, or your claim about them "having had almost nothing to do" in the 90-s is false.

And you are right, children used to ride their bikes to school. It might be an eye-opener to you, but they still do so in many parts of the world in which crime rates are much higher than in the US (in Russia in the 90-s, which was probably the most dangerous place on Earth at the time crime-wise, I walked to school completely alone at the age of 9). That is because on the modern West children are overprotected and the population is scared by the media. Actual safety is much higher in the US nowadays than in the 90-s, and comparable to that in the 50-s and 60-s; people's expectations of safety are just much higher.

I still go outside at 2-3 am sometimes, in the DC, of all places, with no concern to my safety. Many people do not and think that it is "dangerous" outside at that time. I think that the only dangerous places in the US that can be found in virtually every area are churches: dangerous for one's mind. ;)

@MayCaesar ; Who said anything about "double the crime"....please put down the meth pipe.... Crime rates in America are skyrocketing because of your mentality, the atheist...the pacifist...the soft on crime Soros bail...recidivism rates through the morals, no ethics, broken homes, no fathers, no respect for life, no conscience, forgetting how to blush, anything is your mindset and liberal ideology that is death to America. You don't belong here...we need another civil war to restructure the demonic Democrat Party once again. You represent evil and hopelessness in the populous.

  • MayCaesarMayCaesar 4800 Pts   -

Buddy, I linked the data above already. Crime rates are not "skyrocketing"; they have been going down steadily over the past 20+ years.

You are not actually interested in looking at the facts. Just in barking at "atheists", "Democrats" and "Soros" in an unintelligible flurry of sound bites. What a sorry excuse for a debater...
  • RickeyDRickeyD 901 Pts   -
@MayCaesar ; That is a lie of the devil...your daddy.

The year-over-year increase in the U.S. murder rate in 2020 was the largest since at least 1905 – and possibly ever,

Most states saw their murder rates go up between 2019 and 2020.

Firearms were involved in 77% of murders for which data was available in 2020, up from 73% in 2019,

The percentage of murders that were solved – known as the “clearance rate” – declined from 61% in 2019 to 54% in 2020,

  • MayCaesarMayCaesar 4800 Pts   -   edited May 29

I am sorry; are you talking about an increase in one specific given year, one market by an unprecedented event, such as 2020? Or the overall trend? Why 2020 in particular? Why not 2021?

You started this discussion by claiming that in the 90-s the US was much safer and the police officers did not have to do much. Do you consider 2019 to be a part of the 90-s?

I hate to repeat myself, but here you go again:
    • U.S. crime rate & statistics for 2018 was 4.96, a 6.77% decline from 2017.
    • U.S. crime rate & statistics for 2017 was 5.32, a 1.37% decline from 2016.
    • U.S. crime rate & statistics for 2016 was 5.39, a 8.91% increase from 2015.
    • U.S. crime rate & statistics for 2015 was 4.95, a 11.37% increase from 2014.
It appears that you nitpicked one particular year and ignored the overall trend which does not matches your desired trend. My daddy is not devil, but logic. I realize that the concept of logic is foreign to you and you may confuse it with the horned creature from your fantasy book.

@MayCaesar ; Murder is not a good choice to quantify crime and rates of crime as murder is not something that burdens patrol officers as are other types of index crimes such as assault, burglary and I said...I remember policing in the 90's and the calls-for-service were, at times, non-existent. During this time-frame I was involved in a prison ministry where I shared Jesus Christ with young men incarcerated in a State Prison facility in Sugarland, TX....what I discovered was a new adjudicatory standard had been implemented and these guys, especially those who had used a deadly weapon in the commission of their crime...these guys were serving the full sentence...and there were minimums for those who used a young male I was visiting regularly, he was serving a full nine-years for aggravated robbery. As I analyzed the situation, it became apparent that repeat offenders were not out on the street every six-months as recidivists...and if you were convicted three received LIFE! From an experiential perspective, a hands-on perspective, patrol officer response to crime dropped exponentially when judges began locking these guys up for some serious time.

    @MayCaesar ; Guess it's you believe?

"The surge in crime we’ve been witnessing in New York (murders up 14 percent over last year during the first three months of 2021) and Chicago (homicides up 33 percent) and Los Angeles (homicides up nearly 36 percent) is evidence that, while progressives may know how to get elected, they don’t have a clue about how to govern.

“Once in office, progressives don’t seem to know how to run anything more serious than a street protest,” is how an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal put it."

FBI statistics show a 30% increase in violent crime in 2020 compared to the previous year, the largest single-year increase since the agency began tracking those numbers in the 1960s.

That trend didn’t stop in 2021, although all the numbers aren’t compiled yet, and in some cities it accelerated.

One thing the USA can do is to recognise that some ethnicities are very crime prone because of their collective low IQ, and because they are genetically prone to violent behaviour.    They should then either prevent or at least restrict the immigration of such crime prone groups into the USA.    Failure to recognise what is right in front of their eyes will simply see crime continue to rise until they do.    People can always be relied upon to think rationally when their most deeply held emotional morals which have long guided their lives no longer work, and they hit the brick wall of reality.     Another solution is to pay low IQ people not to breed.    At the moment, the opposite is true.   Low IQ people are almost invariably unemployed and unemployable, and they are living entirely on welfare.    welfare could be graded so that if a woman has one child she gets full pension rights, two it gets halved, 3 it gets halved again.

The second thing to recognise is to understand that the entertainment industries do have immense power over human minds, and if they continue to glamourise gun violence, gang behaviour, criminal behaviour generally, and especially massacre and vengeance behaviour, then it is going to have a serious effect on the behaviour of poorly socialised, low status young males, who have low IQ, who just happen to be the sort of people who get hold of an AR-15 and who go on a shooting spree in a school.

The third thing Americans need to accept, is that because of the existence of other factors, the US must institute some sort of generally accepted gun control.     Just saying that US citizens have a "right" to own firearms is not going to cut it anymore.     The NRA should realise that supporting some sort of gun control is in the best interests of their own members.   If they fail to do so, then gun violence in the USA will get worse and worse (it is already shockingly bad), that there will come a time when most of the US population will support a change in their constitution and remove the 'Right to Bear Arms."

But none of this will occur.    Liberal humanitarians will never concede that races are different.    Political parties made up of liberal humanitarians will always support the rights of low IQ, violence prone ethnicities to immigrate into the USA and breed like flies, with the productive people picking up the welfare bill.    The entertainment industries will never act socially responsible and produce movies, computer games, or pop songs  enhancing pro social values.    It is far easier and more profitable for them to produce entertainment media denigrating pro social values, and glorifying anti social values.   Lastly, the NRA will always hold on to it's constitutional right to bear arms.    This has resulted in the USA being so awash with firearms that even the most dangerous criminals and children have easy access to them.
