    I do fully understand the idea that if only bad guys have guns, then the policy of banning guns is idiotic.

    The issue is that the police are too lazy to do undercover war on guns like they did with drugs.

    Not a chance.  The NRA is a member-supported organization, and the current smear campaign will only boost NRA membership and member donations.  In a month or two, those sponsors will either be back or will have been replaced. 

    It's a good example of leftist hypocrisy though.  They whine and moan about how much influence gun manufacturers have on the NRA, then boycott the non-gun related companies doing business with them, which magnifies the gun manufacturers' influence.

    NRA is most likely will be just fine, as it's member supported as per @CYDdharta point.
    I do think that it will take a hit with negative publicity and loss of key sponsors.  NRA members are extremely passionate about their cause and the issue of gun control will likely not be resolved any time soon to it's highly polarized opinion
