Jesus was Jewish so by your logic Christians should do everything that Jews do

Christians should do whatever Christians wish to do. Muslims should do whatever Muslims want to do. Jews should do whatever Jews want to do. Atheists should do whatever atheists want to do, etc.. ALL under the rules of the Constitution and society, of course.
NONE should try to force their beliefs on another, OR try to make laws that would, however subtly.
In the beginning, I couldn't afford to "keep the sabbath". I made double time on Sunday and needed it. I worked in an "underpaid" state, couldn't make ends meet without it. Started @.0.60/hr. w/0.15 for night shift, doing precision Aerospace machine work. The Sabbath was OUT.
Funny, the economy was better then than now. I left 19 years later, making about $6.00+hr. with a nice sum in the Credit Union to take with me. Much of that made on the Sabbath. (A hundred miles away they were making $15-20 hr. for the same work) Sometimes one can't afford the sabbath. ;-)
Off subject, but, this economy only looks good on the surface. Underneath, it sucks.

You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? (Gal. 3:1-2)

Christians do keep the sabbath (rest) by believing the gospel. God's rest is entered by faith. Now we who have believed enter that rest.... (Heb. 4:3) This Sabbath is not interested in a day of the week, it is concerned about how people respond to Jesus. A person who keeps the weekly Sabbath but rejects Christ has not entered God's rest.

Keeping a "sabbath day" was only a commandment only for the Israelites. Therefore the people of Israel shall keep the Sabbath,...Exodus 31:16-17. Deuteronomy 5:15 gives the reason. If you think Christians should keep a "Sabbath day" then why not the other commands that go along with it? A person breaking the Sabbath law was to be put to death (Exodus 31:15; Numbers 15:32–35). Consider, When the Gentiles, which have not the law...(Romans 1:14).

Why is it called a Sabbath-rest? By using this word, it indicates that this is what the Sabbath pointed to. Just as the bronze snake pointed to Jesus' crucifixion, and the washings pointed to forgiveness, and the sacrifices pointed to Jesus, similarly, the weekly Sabbath pointed to something spiritual: rest through faith in Christ. Christians do not keep a Sabbath day for the same reason they do not sacrifice animals unto the Lord. All these things were only a shadow of what was to come. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come... (Gal 3:19) Christians now live in the light of the Lord. In other words, the law was added to reveal the true nature of unregenerate man, until the Son of God came who alone was capable of obeying the law in perfection. "To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons." (Gal. 4:5)

This then begs the question, "Rest from what?". The work of trying to earn salvation by one's own merits, by trying to atone for one's sins through some ritual act. When Christians look to Jesus for salvation, they quit looking to themselves, to the flesh, to the law. The law was meant to prove that people are guilty and helpless, that they could not work towards salvation, that there is nothing they can do themselves. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith (Gal. 3:11).  Paul is quoting the Old Testament - Habakkuk 2:4. Salvation by faith, apart from the Law was an Old Testament principle. This is also echo'd in Romans: Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. (Romans 3:20) People are reminded in Isaiah 64:6 - But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. That is why a Christian enters heaven not of their own righteousness but that of Christ's righteousness.

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth (Romans 10:4).

If Christians were to keep a Sabbath Day, it would not say, Therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a festival, a New Moon, or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come... (Colossians 2:16-17)

But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. (Galatians 4:9-10) Same argument found in Galatians 2, but this time in regards to circumcision. This issue arose because some false brothers had come in under false pretenses to spy on our freedom in Christ Jesus, in order to enslave us. We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you (Gal 2:4).
