  • Military funds should not be transferred to the Department of Education. The military funds were appropriated for military maintenance and development, not the department of Education. The DOE can be funded separately.

The United States military needs a lot of funding from the United States government and it’s funding shouldn’t be moved to another department.

Even though the U.S does spend a huge amount of money on education, ranked 40 of 72 in mathematics, 25 of 72 in science, 24 of 72 in reading according to the Programme for International Student Assessment

Exactly, we're already not getting what we're paying for.  The last thing we should do is throw even more money after poor results.

Governmental investment tends to lead to extremely poor results in any industry it invests in. I think the funds from both the military budget and the educational budget should be reallocated into people's pockets. Meaning the taxes should be lowered, and people should not pay a dime for supporting either the military or the education.

Let both of these industries operate on the principles of the free market. South Korea scores #1 in high school education worldwide, and its high school education is mostly based on the competition between the highest-ranked private schools, many of which are so good and recognised worldwide, that graduating from one with decent grades pretty much gives a free pass into Harvard, Stanford and other world's top universities. On the other hand, the public schools there are mostly useless and prepare mindless blue collar workers who cannot do anything outside South Korea.

It is not the education as a whole that makes a country successful. It is the top schools that do so, and those are better off left alone. The government always makes a mess out of them.
