Is communism good?

Debate Information

I will be going for support on Communism in this debate, from the true communist ideological thinking of Marxism. I will be using things straight out of the Communist Manifesto. So first off. Marxism is a very progressive ideology that would benefit todays societies, as today unemployment is high in most countries and the world economy is getting worse for some while others prosper and the ones that profit no matter what are the corporations and bourgeoisie.

  • Communism is good in certain Demario's and/per situations. The United States does not follow it but some other countries might if they do not already and many countries used to follow communism or people in the country as well. One of these countries was formerly USSR.

Since there are pros and cons for every system, I will list them
    Pros:

    • Fast economic growth
    • Equal access to health, education, and food.
    • More jobs since everyone would be able to work and contribute

    Cons:

    • No one would be expected to do anything better. Since everyone would be paid the same, there is no effort needed.
    • The leader(s) will get have more money
    • No freedom or freedom of speech since the government controls everything

Communism is way too authoritarian. I'd rather have a government which combines capitalism and socialism, so it doesn't give too much power to the government or the companies.

Theoretically "true" communism is a semi-anarchic DOTP state. This raises three questions.

1.) Is anarchism good? I've seen no serious discussion thus far that states that this state would be anything other than simply an anarchist one which raises the usual issues with anarchism regarding monopoly on force.

2.) Is it possible to get there, with respect to all the other attempts at communism.

3.) Once you get there (which has happened once or twice), can it be maintained? The answer, it seems, is no, given that communist states cannot organise in any meaningful way once they have reached the anarchist stage and so get crushed.

Golden mean as per @fascism's example isn't always the way to go.

Under a system of perfectly free commerce, each country naturally devotes its capital and labour to such employments as are most beneficial to each. This pursuit of individual advantage is admirably connected with the universal good of the whole. By stimulating industry, by regarding ingenuity, and by using most efficaciously the peculiar powers bestowed by nature, it distributes labour most effectively and most economically.

The idea of communism is actually quite okay. Everyone gets equal share and the government takes care of the big problems. As the country develops, the people get more from the government. But we're all human. Leaders of communist countries will eventually take more power for themselves. They will distribute less so that they can have more. They become greedy and the country's economy declines. So eventually, communism would depend on how the government functions. Plus, you don't have freedom of speech (or freedom of a lot of things) in a communist country.

In a communist system there is no government. Society is made up of worker's communes.

In short, communism is state tyrannical prospects in, forced equality (live as others), coerced altruism (live for others) and suppressed human nature (think like others). Such state tyranny goes against the constructal law

@Medic Golden mean is the ideal middle ground, so it is good. I think you just meant to say "the middle ground isn't always good". The argument would be whether my idea is a golden mean or not, not if a golden mean is good or not.

Although the middle ground isn't always the way to go, I think in my case it is good. In some societies, corporations had too much power. In other societies the government had too much power.
