Is the media a dictatorship nation without territory?

Debate Information

Correct me if im wrong but the media has been for years the center of every global political issue since you can remember.

The media dictates what people should think.
The media dictates the topics to share and discuss within friends and family.
The media dictates what you should focus on etc... i could go on.
For example, "hey no winner yet for the mega millions" long lines at the store tomorrow.

No other country or territory has as much influence on the world as the media.

Most importantly of all,

The media could easily cause world wars.

US president makes a remark, another world super power leader hears this from the media and as a result responds with actions.

For example, in the old days Vietnam used the power of the media to disuade Americans from winning the war.

Another example are drug cartels in Mexico using the media as personal use.

One last example of the media could be used in many ways to dictate any picture. Trials, trade deals, currency, elections, propaganda, etc... yes the world would never know half the stuff going onnin the world if it werent for the media, but at what point is it pretty much a concern in every single peoples daily life? And at what cost?.

The freedom of information in the US and around the world has both done bad and done good.

But is it regulated?  and it should. If something as powerful as the media can start wars then we should all be concerned. And if not seen as a dictator country without borders then what of?
