As you open the door, a sleazy looking man with slicked-back hair, wearing gaudy gold jewelry wedges his white shoe between the door and door frame.
Next thing you know, he's sitting in your lounge room sprooking some dodgy "family life investment" plan. All you need to do is fork over 10% of your income for the rest of your life and you will reap the reward of your whole family living in a gated community with a luxury mansion and blissful living for as long as you want. He can't provide you with any financial statements of his business nor any indemnity or guarantee of a payout. "You just need to trust me" he says with a cheesy grin. "And of course, You would not want to deprive your children of a secure future, now would you? "
Of course, You would kick the twerp out of your home. Yet there are some people in this world who are naive, gullible and impressionable enough to sign up with this charlatan and talk themselves into believing that they will reap the benefits he promised.
We have all heard stories like this on the gutter TV news shows every night; an awful lot of people get ripped off with all sorts of similar scams and the dishonest, slimy sleazeballs are outed for what they are. But, can we put the blame on these low-lives for taking advantage of others?
After all, If there weren't so many naive, gullible, simple-minded, impressionable people around who take everything at face value we would not have a market for con artists to make a living let alone, get their rip-off businesses off the ground. Doesn't this scenario sound hauntingly familiar to you?
Yes, we are talking about very foolish people here falling for the same old scam. "Just fork out your money every week and kiss the behind of the company founder and you will get a life of luxury. oh, nobody has ever seen him or heard him and you have to die first to reap the rewards. You just need to believe what I say and have faith".
What I'm saying here is that if there weren't so many foolish people in this world who get sucked in at the drop of a hat we wouldn't have religion, would we? Religion. it's nothing but a scam.
