Trump's presidency and his subsequent loss has divided the Republican party into right-wing populists and ideological conservatives, and this will no doubt have a continuing legacy long into the future.
The rift between Trump's radical base is becoming more separated from the value-driven conservatives as noted by the changes in language and desires for what is best for America. Trumpists take to the streets confidently asserting that the election was stolen despite the complete lack of evidence, while the rest of American conservatives recognize the importance of maintaining democracy and therefore respecting the results of the election. The fact that Trump has continuously asserted that he has won the election in clear contradiction of the results is a declaration that a president's character is not important in deciding an candidate.
Trump's strategy used in 2016 is unlikely to work in the future because rural Americans are in decline and the identity politics of Trump's presidency are unlikely to generate the same level of support following the advent of the BLM movement. Value driven conservatives might therefore be better off welcoming minority groups and women into their fray, so as to not drive away potential voters for reasons of identity. The GOP can not maintain itself solely on white, working class Americans.
Finally, I would be remised if I failed to mention the ridiculous scenario unfolding in Georgia. Trumpists are threatening to not vote in the Georgia run-offs following along with conspiratorial thinking, and righting in Trump is a common recommendation. However, this means that Georgia could offer blue seats which could in turn flip the senate. Trump himself is ineligible for candidacy in Georgia because he is not a resident. This group believes that media conspiracy and Chinese made voting machines are fraudulent, making would be republican voters anxious to the point of a voting boycott. Wile more level-headed conservative voters would recognize that this conspiratorial thinking is not in line with what is best for the party and conservatism in general, they are themselves at risk for losing ground thanks to the disparaging Trumpists.
The righting is on the wall, the GOP is undergoing an internal struggle between populism and conservatism.
At some point in the distant past, the universe went through a phase of cosmic inflation,
Stars formed, planets coalesced, and on at least one of them life took root.
Through a long process of evolution this life developed into the human race.
Humans conquered fire, built complex societies and advanced technology .
All of that so we can argue about nothing.
