Were Muhammad and Jesus mentally unwell?

Debate Information

I believe Muhammad and Jesus were mentally unwell, what say you? Muhammad suffered from insanity and contemplated suicide , he was also an epileptic who had violent seizures and claimed they were visions from the devil his wife and a friend used his wife's wealth to foster  the idea that he was a prophet.

He gained followers promising them booty and sex slaves from raids on other tribes.

By any standards this man was clearly unwell ,to me a grown man  who rambles into a cave and comes out saying he conversed with an angel is clearly insane

The man was also a and a fantasist .....

The Quran also mentions critics of Muhammad; for example Quran 25:4-6 says the critics complained that Mohammad was passing off what others were telling him as revelations:

Those who disbelieve say, "This is nothing but a lie that he made up, and others have helped him at it...Tales of the ancients; he wrote them down; they are dictated to him morning and evening."

Unfortunately for followers of Jesus insanity again is the common link with Muhammad , what better judge of his mental health then his own mother who deemed him mentally unwell , here is a little supporting piece from Wiki......

The topic of the assessment of the psyche of Jesus first occurs in the gospels. The Gospel of Mark reports the opinion of members of Jesus' family who believe that Jesus "is beside himself". Some psychiatristsreligious scholars and writers explain that Jesus' family, followers (John 7:20) and contemporaries seriously regarded him as delusionalpossessed by demons, or insane.

And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for people were saying, “He is beside himself”. And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Be-el′zebul, and by the prince of demons he casts out the demons”.

— Mark 3:21–22 (RSV)

The accusation contained in the Gospel of John is more literal.

There was again a division among the Jews because of these words. Many of them said, “He has a demon, and he is mad; why listen to him?”

— John 10:19–20 (RSV)

Justin Meggitt, lecturer at the University of Cambridge, suggests in his article ″The Madness of King Jesus: Why was Jesus Put to Death, but his Followers were not?″ (2007) and in his book The Madness of King Jesus: The Real Reasons for His Execution (2010) that Pilate and the other Roman people regarded Jesus as an insane, deceived lunatic. Therefore, only Jesus was sentenced to death, while his disciples were not. Jesus was to be presented to Pilate and sentenced to death as a royal pretender, while the standard Roman procedure was the prosecution and execution of would-be insurgents with their leaders. Jesus' disciples not only did not meet such a fate, but even later they did not experience any harassment from the Roman authorities while preaching about Jesus.

Jean Meslier (1664–1729) thought similarly. In his Testament he undertook to prove that Jesus ″was really a madman, a fanatic″ (étoit véritablement un fou, un insensé, un fanatique). He then did so in chapters XXXIII and XXXIV.
