Those who know me know that I would never place myself above nor below anybody else. What I'm going on about here is "better" from the perspective of being good and being better able to deal with life. * Theists have a belief founded on nothing more than very flimsy hearsay evidence that their God actually exists. In order to defend their belief, theists need to lie or at best, "make things up. " Therefore, theists are more prone to lying and deceiving than atheists. * The belief in God is delusional. There is evidence to suggest that those who gravitate to spiritual beliefs have a genetic disposition to spiritual delusion. Sure, some atheists can suffer from delusions from time to time, but we are talking here of religion being a way of life, therefore all believers are delusional 24/7. * Religious zealots make the claim of having "high morals" or even having invented morals as prescribed by their particular belief. Also, the inference is that without (e.g. Christian) morals one would be a complete social loose cannon. Morals are what we learn through upbringing and life experiences and have little to do with adhering to doctrines. Therefore, given that many religious morals are taken from ancient scriptures when society was primitive and barbaric one can conclude that atheists have morals that are more in tune with the times and therefore better. One has to wonder about the moral fiber of anyone who has to consult a book in order to adopt particular morals. * Temper: We all (should) know that religious followers are notorious for having short fuses. Consider that theists are under constant pressure to lie and deceive in order to explain their errant, unproven beliefs. Also, religious institutions instill fear and guilt into their subjects in order to keep their flocks. One can see how theists easily lose it and that atheists are better tempered. * Theists cannot possibly deal with life as well as atheists. Given that theists are constantly in a state of delusion their decision-making in every-day situations, (especially when under pressure) will be compromised. For example: The Mark Saylor case (look it up) is a well documented instance where delusionary religious beliefs caused a catastrophic tragedy. The devoutly Christian driver of a car could not use quick reasoning to avoid a car crash. His last words and only action were: "Hold on and pray". Atheists are far better than theists. |
