Should We Respect Religion?

As we all (should) know, religion has come under much criticism over the years and there is very little respect for it, except from those who are religious. But then if we consider the fact that religious faiths and denominations have a tendency to vehemently hate each other, there is very little respect at all shown towards all religions and by all religions.
My feeling is that we should respect religions.......provided that religions:
stop their hatred against each other and those who are non-religious,
stop their vilification of minority groups,
stop their endemic harboring of phobias and systematic abuse,
stop recruiting followers by preying on those who are vulnerable and gullible,
stop preaching mythological stories as if they were true,
stop peddling doom and gloom through fear and guilt.
Which surely, is not a lot to ask for.
