Is Climate Change Caused by Humans?

It seems that every generation needs to frighten itself to death with "end of times" hoaxes.    Apparently, kindergarten teachers don't teach toddlers about the story of "Chickenlittle" anymore, so that kids can start to inoculate their minds against the ever recurring doomsayers.    After forty years of falling temperatures, climate scientists in the early 70's declared that the Earth was headed for a new Ice Age.    Crops were going to fail, livestock unable to find grass through snow would die of starvation, and billions of humans would die with them.     Climate "scientists" went on TV angrilly demanding that the governments of the world stop building nuclear weapons and instead pool their resources to begin spreading soot all over the north and south poles, to warm the poles and to stop the inevitable build up of ice.   Needless to say, that all turned out to be .

Next in the early 80's came "peak oil".    That is, "scientists" claimed that the human race had discovered all of the oil they were ever going to find, and it was all downhill now.    The earth would soon run out of oil, so the human race had better get prepared for that.     Here in Australia, rich people, who one usually associates with being smart, sold their gas guzzling V8 cars and bought Mini Minors.      They were great days for the rev heads nd car hoons, who apparently were smarter than the rich.    They snapped up "top of the line" V8 cars like Holden Statesmen for a song and got the car of their dreams.     That was also.      Next came The Millenium Bug, which predicted that since most computers being used worldwide for everything, had not been programmed to allow for the change of the new millennium, all sorts of terrible things were going to happen.     Every PC on earth would become useless.  Aeroplanes would shut down mid flight and drop out of the sky.    Nuclear tipped ballistic missiles would self launch and a nuclear Armageddon would ensue.    The world waited breathlessly for 1999 to change to 2000, where (wait for it, wait for it) nothing happened.    Complete .

Now we are faced with more .      The climate scientists, probably hoping that everyone has forgotten their last bit of , now predict that Human Induced Global warming is going to turn earth into something resembling Venus.     What they need (surprise, surprise) is a massive increase in climate science funding to investigate how bad the situation really is.    Only this time the is being taken seriously, even by governments.   Governments instantly grasped how here is a novel way for democratic governments to frighten the public into accepting much higher taxation (especially electricity charges) as well as accepting ever more government control of their lives.    Sniffing "increased funding" entire bureaucracies came on board, including the UN who managed to set up an entirely new department staffed with overpaid nobodies who only needed to bang the HICC drum.   Even the kooky vegans came yapping at their heels, predicting that the world would end unless everybody stopped eating meat.     Lastly came the ever growing caste of near unemployable humanities Artz graduates and their wannabees.  Here was another "cause" for them to strut and preen, and display how intellectually superior they were compared to their working class inferiors, and how morally superior they were to the business class, who were usually their parents, and who despaired of ever getting their unemployable kids out of the family house.
