Persuaded Argument

Humans are neither entirely logical nor entirely illogical. We possess the capacity for rational thought but often deviate from perfect rationality due to various psychological and environmental factors. Understanding this complex interplay between rationality and irrationality is crucial for improving decision-making in various domains, from personal choices to public policy.

Humans are logical being at their roots, Everything i know about in my known universe is logic based. What you see is a person not taking a supposed more logical route however everybody has their own individual drives, motivations, and history. People are actually a massively complex, self replicating logic machine.

our emotions are created in the neurological system which is often limited by its own inefficiencies and history. The more you understand a particular person the more you can accurately predict how someone would react to a particular scenerio, in fact if you had the information of the entire universe perfectly recorded you could make an accurate prediction of the universe depending on the accuracy of your model

Human's have a false sense of free will, the ability to decide to do something and yet are trapped within their own self to make decisions they are likely to make

    Humans are mostly illogical.

Is that a logical statement?  How would you know?  If humans are mostly illogical, then isn't your claim that humans are mostly illogically, logically probably wrong?
  • BoganBogan 629 Pts   -
Human beings can think logically and rationally, when all other means are exhausted      Most of the time we think entirely at an emotional level of pre conditioned emotional responses which have been programmed into us by either our culture or our personnel experience.    Children sit glued to teenage TV soap operas because they want to learn from their teenage role model heroes how they should act in the numerous scenario's that on screen role models get into.  This is  so they know to handle the same situation if they get into that situation themselves.   Which is why having on screen role model heroes always react violently is a du-mb thing for any society to tolerate.   People who have a library of correct emotional responses to everyday situations we call "emotionally mature."     Our ability to think rationally and logically only kicks in if our pre programmed emotional responses are inadequate to handle whatever stressful social situation we may find ourselves in.  When this happens we "think again".    Which means that we perform a physical act called "concentrating"    We divest ourselves of our emotional programing, and instead think rationally.    The purpose of our rational mind is to program our emotional mind so that we do not have to think rationally all of the time.    Nobody walks around in a permanent state of concentration.

Take driving a car.   It is hard to do at first because your mind and body are  not programmed to do it.   So you learn using your rational mind which tends to be a slow process, until you no longer need to think to drive.   People drive without thinking rationally at all.   It is now pre programmed into their responses so they an listen to the music on the radio,, day dream, or talk to a passenger without having to think about what they are doing.

Hi JS.   This "Joseph" character is just getting too offensive.   He just called my mother a slut and suggested that she was a whore.    Last year we had another clone like Joseph who' never stopped making the most vicious personnel attacks on others and we succeeded in getting the brainless rat tossed of DA.   I remember submitting a complaint along with others, and Aarong tossed the guy off.   But I can not remember how I did it.   Do you know how I can contact Aarong?

Bwahahahahaha Bogan the bigot is reaching out to our resident Christians in enlisting a mob brandishing fiery torches to burn out the big bad wolf , I fold you that your KKK training would come in handy.

. He just called my mother a slut and suggested that she was a whore

" suggested" I didn't suggest I said she was , did you follow the family calling?

. Last year we had another clone like Joseph who' never stopped making the most vicious personnel attacks on others and we succeeded in getting the brainless rat tossed of DA.

That wouldn't have been the same guy called Bogan who never stopped calling the Irish scum of the Earth would it?

I remember submitting a complaint along with others, and Aarong tossed the guy off.

There you go bringing your mum into it , " tossing guys off"

But I can not remember how I did it. Do you know how I can contact Aarong?   @Bogan

Come on you can do this Bogan you will work it out , cowards like you always turn into  rats when faced down , I just bet you're the "concerned neighbour" that rings the cops if he suspects his neighbour hasn't a dog licence

    Argument Topic: Hey Zeus baby.

    @ZeusAres42

I think that it would be incorrect to propose that some aspects of intellect are unnecessary.

All parts combining to make a whole, as it were.

As Bogan suggests, we are a species of emotional overthinkers.

Overthinking being an evolutionary specialism, that is seemingly essential to the ongoing process of material development.

Whereas logic, is sort of a philosophical concept that we chat about..

But nonetheless a part of the whole.

I don't know how to file a formal complaint.  I think you can go to page https://debateisland.com/profile/aarong and then click the 'message' link to send him a message.

@Joeseph can be over the top in his insults.  it is usually an indication that he knows he's holding nothing as far as a argument goes.  You should take it as a kind of compliment.

You say that about everyone every time you're whipped in debate , nearly two years now and you're still running from 3 simple questions I asked you .....now run along and join Bogan the the bigot you are well matched.

Thank you< JS.   I did not notice the "message" bit until I looked again and saw it.   My message to Aarong, complete with quotes from Joseph, is on the way.    If I rememebrre correctly, Dee got chucked off DI when too many people complained about his abusive behaviour?   And I only just noticed that that insufferable little abusive shiit Barnadot no longer seems to be around, so Aarong may have gotten rid of him too?

This is a quantitative statement that I have no opinion on. If "mostly illogical" means "making decisions defying logic in more than 50% instances", then we have to define what considers a decision instance. And are we talking about complete dismissal of logic, or any slight deviation from cold, pragmatic calculations?

I think that humans use logic most of the time, but it is only one factor in their decision-making process. It might even be impossible to untangle it from emotions since humans tend to rationalize emotional decisions by making up logical arguments to support them.

There is also a difference between a decision based partially on logic and partially on emotions - and a decision influenced by broken logic. Logical errors are different from logical partiality. When I choose between drinking a cup of coffee or a cup of diet coke, I can logically think about what I need more right now, yet what I actually choose will be heavily influenced by emotional factors outside of my awareness. It is different from me miscalculating something and investing my entire fortune into a sinking ship.

Yet it is you Ricky who proudly boasted of abusing atheists and throwing them into cuffs because you thought they were atheists by sight only; and didn't need to use any discernment. Not to mention your life's view comes from childish dreams and wishful thinking of ancient herdsmen scribbled in fairytale literature. Who thought the earth was made before the sun and was covered in vegetation before the sun existed.

@Factfinder ; Sun-energy-photosynthesis was available subsequent Day-1...why not study and learn and find life as opposed to living in darkness?

1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. Genesis 1 (ESV)

    So Rickey.

Who could know that these events occurred?

I'm guessing that this was actually all made up.

Probably to accompany a rather naive creation hypothesis.
