What Drives 9/11 Conspiracy Fanatics?

Debate Information

9/11 conspiracy theories persist because of a variety of reasons, including:

  1. Lack of trust in the government: Some people have a general distrust of the government and believe that it is capable of concealing the truth about 9/11.

  2. Need for closure: The 9/11 attacks were a traumatic event for many people, and some may be searching for a different explanation that provides closure or makes sense of what happened.

  3. Skepticism of official accounts: Some people are naturally skeptical of official accounts and believe that the truth is often hidden or distorted.

  4. Dissemination of misinformation: The internet has made it easier for false information to be spread and perpetuated, leading some people to believe in conspiracy theories.

It's important to remember that conspiracy theories are not based on evidence and can spread misinformation. The best way to understand the truth about historical events is to rely on credible sources of information and to critically evaluate the evidence.

@JulesKorngold This is right but the underlaying cause of these causes is that these people are just total lunies who just cant listen to any one and can only under stand things that are larger then life which is why they become exstream and blow every thing out of proportion. And also have you noticed how these people have real short fuses like they have ants in ther pants all the time and also they never say any thing because they say some thing like this guy said or that site said  and they ask questions but never answer any and they are also control freaks. A lot of them go around in the hi luxes with matt black paint and all the spot lights on the roof then ride a round the back roads shooting every animal they see and then they call every one else dufises because they think every one else in in ferrier to them.

    "Empowering people
Conspiracy thinking is associated with feelings of reduced control and perceived threat.6, 7 When people feel like
they have lost control of a situation, their conspiracist tendencies increase.43 But the opposite also applies. When
people feel empowered, they are more resilient to conspiracy theories."

In regards to the tragedy on September eleventh people felt reduced control from the attack. Also, the perceived threat, in this case the very real threat of religious extremism. People turn to conspiracies to ease these feelings and regain a sense of control.

    Glad you agree.

Peer-reviewed article on the WTC steel authored by the Worcester Polytechnic Institute:-

Gaping holes--some larger than a silver dollar--let light shine through a formerly solid steel flange. This Swiss cheese appearance shocked all of the fire-wise professors, who expected to see distortion and bending--but not holes.

    https://911research.wtc7.net/cache/wtc/evidence/metallurgy/wpi_steel.html

Metallurgy examination of the WTC steel performed by Professor Barnett for FEMA:-

Evidence of a severe high temperature corrosion attack on the steel, including oxidation and sulfidation with subsequent intergranular melting, was readily visible in the near-surface microstructure.

The severe corrosion and subsequent erosion of Samples 1 and 2 are a very unusual event. No clear explanation for the source of the sulfur has been identified.

    https://911research.wtc7.net/wtc//evidence/metallurgy/WTC_apndxC.htm

Gaping holes in the steel, highly unusual sulfur damage and intergranular melting.

But clearly we can't say anything about that because it makes us "fanatics", right buddy?

You are more crooked than a horseshoe, Jules.

    Argument Topic: Debunked Bull

There are a number of conspiracy theories surrounding the events of September 11, 2001. However, these theories have been debunked by the facts and evidence.

    1. The Twin Towers were destroyed by controlled demolition. Fact: The towers fell due to the intense heat of the fires caused by the impact of the hijacked airplanes.

    2. The Pentagon was not hit by a plane. Fact: The Pentagon was hit by American Airlines Flight 77.

    3. The World Trade Center was brought down by a missile. Fact: The towers were destroyed by the impact of two hijacked airplanes.

    4. The U.S. government was behind the attacks. Fact: The attacks were carried out by a terrorist group known as al-Qaeda.

    5. The U.S. government was aware of the attacks ahead of time. Fact: There is no evidence to support this claim.

    6. There were no hijackers aboard the planes. Fact: There were hijackers on all four planes.

    7. The hijackers were trained by the U.S. government. Fact: There is no evidence to support this claim.

    What conspiracy theory?

Nobody here is debating conspiracy theory the argument of debate is focused on details of destruction of a disaster that has been shaped by other outside economic and environmental regulations and risk brought on from the 1970s and 1980s. Such things as the use of Russian asbestos and its import, building coding, demolition and deconstruction methods, the use of chemicals in cigarettes/ tabaco and home goods as fire retardants, etc.

I think that it is the same effect as the one causing people to call themselves "non-binary", or "enlightened", or to adopt edgy ideologies like anarcho-syndicalism, or to join totalitarian cults... It is simply the desire to feel special and better/wiser than others: if you talk to these people (such as the certain two individuals on this website), you will hear them constantly berate others' intelligence and say things like "There is no one here who can have an intellectual discussion with me" - while upon even the most superficial examination, behind the contrived language (to their credit, such people usually read a lot and, hence, have mastered the art of smoke-and-mirrors writing), you find endless fallacies and blunders. These people are even more gullible than someone who blindly follows whatever the mainstream media tell them: the latter, at least, are not so aggressive in their insistence on their well-informedness.

Governments all around the world are committing endless atrocities, from the most obvious ones such as genocides and concentration camps, to heavily camouflaged ones such as controlling people's minds and bodies through nationalization of education and healthcare. There is, however, a huge difference between talking about the actual tangible and verifiable atrocities governments commit - and the paranoia of seeing every atrocity in the world as orchestrated by governments. Especially the particular few governments that have been the favorite target of armchair warriors around the world for decades.

It is all the more cute when people bashing on democratic governments that are relatively transparent in their doings under the same breath defend authoritarian regimes actively waging wars of conquest, murdering journalists who talk too much, sitting at the bottom of all freedom indexes and continuously experiencing massive outflux of migrants. Many of those cases are straightforward - they are victims of those very regimes' propaganda (making their accusations of others' being brainwashed all the cuter) - but many are more contrived. I have lost count of American libertarians I have talked to who believed that Hong Kong was an American puppet and the CCP should have incorporated it outright... All because their cult leader Ron Paul suggested (with as much evidence as you could expect) that the recent demonstrations were staged by the CIA. In that one they even got the country wrong: confused the US with the UK... Happens!  :D

    @JulesKorngold
The Twin Towers were destroyed by controlled demolition. Fact: The towers fell due to the intense heat of the fires caused by the impact of the hijacked airplanes.

That is the total opposite of a fact. Heat travels upwards through air, and taking the North Tower as the best example, it was struck between floors 93 and 99. It was only 110 floors high, so the egregious falsehood you are calling a "fact" is that the top 17 floors, which might have been damaged by fire, and which were completely at rest, had enough energy (i.e. weight) from a standing position to crush the 93 floors underneath which were structurally intact. That is a total and utter aberration of basic Newtonian mechanics.

Furthermore, each of the twin towers was surrounded by a perimeter of 47 heavy steel support columns. Therefore, in order for either of them to have collapsed symmetrically and vertically, all 47 of those columns would have had to fail simultaneously. Again, that's just basic common sense. Something I am certain you have none of.

The only way either of those towers could have fallen straight down to the ground is if something compromised the structural resistance so severely in the untouched sections of the building, that they lost the ability to withstand the pull of gravity.

Apparently, we have an entire country of people in America who don't understand the most basic concepts of science.

    Argument Topic: Controlled Demolition? Bunk

The towers were not destroyed by controlled demolition. The 9/11 attacks were carried out by a group of terrorists who hijacked commercial airplanes and flew them into the towers, causing them to collapse due to the resulting damage and fires. The collapse of the towers was extensively investigated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which concluded that the damage and fires caused by the impact of the planes led to the collapse of the towers. The controlled demolition theory has been widely debunked by experts and there is no credible evidence to support it.

Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, a group that advocates for the controlled demolition theory, cites the membership of over 2,400 architects and engineers, but this group represents a small minority of the total number of architects and engineers worldwide, and their claims have been widely discredited by mainstream experts.

There's an absolute ton of evidence the 9/11 narrative is a pack of lies. More so than the JFK assassination.

The problem is that the world is now dominated by mass media, and the bastards who did this have a lot of control over that. They don't simply allow evidence to remain in the public domain. If they can't outright remove it, they'll post counter-propaganda, some of which is very subtle and perfectly capable of influencing people's beliefs. They'll also try to ruin the professional reputation of anybody telling the truth.
