The religion of atheism is comprised of the rather foolish...rather stu-pid...and irrelevant...many are educated but absent commonsense; atheism is a hoard of hor-rible people who are destructive, per-verted, dangerous, baby murder-ers, Marxists, pedophiles, LGBTQ radicals; believe men can become women, ha-te the family, ha-te faith, ha-te the good and advocate and support the bad, ha-te America, ha-te patriotism....just horrible people....no place for these in America but jails, penitentiaries, mental institutions.

As a young man learning of the America Civil War (1861-1865) I could not fathom nor comprehend how brothers-family members who sat at morning breakfast with family could ultimately leave home and walk to opposite sides of a large grassy field and shoot one another to death over a political ideology - worldview, a religion perspective, but having matured and policed this atheistic sick American society for decades and having observed the hopelessness of the Democrat-the Progressive-the Marxist-the eliminate Queer- neighborhoods of violence-the filth-the family violence-an overwhelming number being atheists-secular humanists-th-ugs...I understand how and why the Civil War manifest and why America needs another Civil War to cleanse the land of Democrat-Progressive-Marxist-Atheist Filth!     Dear Rickey.      All human beings everywhere once believed in gods as a way of explaining how the universe and life came to exist.     But most people now believe that the universe was always here and always will be be.    It never needed a "creator", it just exists.     If you think that some God or rather created everything then please believe in your fairytale.   But do not condemn others who think differently.   Atheism is just the idea that a supernatural world does not exist.   It is not an evil concept at all.   Of course, religion has ben handy at keeping people on the straight and narrow but it never had a monopoly on morality because Gods do not exist and every law that ever existed was man made.     This means that religion can no longer be used to define what is right or wrong behaviour, and so there are deviant people who therefore think that anything goes.     But this does not detract from the fact that all laws are man made and they are usually enacted for the common good, although those in power usually frame them to benefit themselves primarily.      So, please get off your high horse and stop claiming that atheists are somehow evil.    The history of most religions was written in blood, so religious people have no moral authority to preach to those who reject religious absolutism.

    It is also the belief system of people who think straight, Ricky.      The reason why the western world became the dominant culture in the world is because we stopped thinking that natural events were caused by a god, and started thinking about natural reasons why everything is so.        If the western world had not done so 400 years ago with the creation of the Royal Society in London, it is conceivable that either another culture composed of intelligent people would have beaten us, or that the hole of humanity would still be living in a backward medieval state like the Muslims today.

    I used to think that religious people were stu-pid too, Ricky.      But as I got older I realised that I was wrong.     There are many very intelligent religious people, just as there are many intelligent non religious people.     My present theory is that the two groups of people just have their brains wired differently.         I think that is a more Christian and tolerant attitude than yours.   As Jesus said about the good Samaritan, "just because a man is of another religion, it dos not make him a bad person."

    Completely wrong, Ricky.      400 years ago, every civilisation was at roughly the same level of development.     Some were ahead or behind in some aspects, but their social and technological development was roughly the same.     The reason why the western world rocketed ahead of every other civilisation was because we in the west stopped thinking that some god was responsible for everything, and we started to look for natural reasons why the world is as it is.     When we discovered that the natural laws of nature and mathematics pretty well explained everything, we began to utilize this knowledge for the good of ourselves, and eventually the whole of humankind.     If we had allowed our minds to be chained to religion we would still be thinking that the earth is the center of the universe and that the world is flat.       The reason why the Islamic world is so backward compared to the west is because they still think like you do.    They think that all they have to do is to be faithful to their non existent God and He will bestow his holy grace upon them, just like He did when the Muslims pretty well ruled the world.     The reason why the Islamic world has had a fundamentalist Muslim revival is because the dumb bastards really do believe that the reason why the Islamic world is so broke is because they are not religious enough.

    You believe you know why I reject Christianity but if you were to be honest with yourself, "praying" for me is just another way of quelling the anxiety of rising doubt internally.

    Something that is worth pointing out is that the Founding Fathers imitated the Roman Republic when designing their system, not any of the Christian European states. The Roman Republic was as secular as a state had ever been prior to 1776, with relatively weak grip of religion on human lives, no dedicated church, et cetera. Instead, it featured temples dedicated to individual gods, and no particular god took precedence. It goes without saying that the Romans did not base their morals off their gods - in fact, in many ways their gods served to illustrate the relatively secular morals they had.

    As was mentioned before many times, talk is cheap, and one has to look at the actual hard facts to understand the essence of anything. Despite what the Founding Fathers said, there is nothing in the American system itself that gives Christianity or Christian values a precedence. You could replace Christianity with, say, Shintoism without introducing a single change into the system. In fact, the Japanese system was modeled after the American system, and the Christian community in Japan is tiny and does not have any political power. The general ideas demonstrably work in any society, regardless of its religiosity.

    I also have never understood how someone can be so blind as to assume that Christianity is chiefly responsible for such things as democracy, or condemnation of murder, when those had been around for much longer than Christianity. Ancient Greeks experimented with democracy 500+ years before the first Christian existed, and murder was outlawed even in Sumer 6,000 years ago. That these weirdos cannot understand how one can arrive at the idea that the murder is wrong or that the absolute power in the hands of one person is problematic without some omniscient being telling them that it is so - that is far more revealing than anything else they can possibly do or say. Little children who have never learned to think for themselves and make simple deductions, and who need someone to guide them through every step in life.

    Did the Founding Fathers have little children in mind when designing their system? No, they said the exact opposite: that the system will only be sustainable if people take responsibility for their lives and actively participate in the life of the society, rather than give that responsibility to some higher entity. Letting the "god" do the moral thinking for them is not any different from letting the state do political thinking for them. In this respect, they got the Fathers' ideas exactly backwards.

    Again, I pointed this out, and you pretended it didn't exist - all 13 states declared in their charters, which predate the United States that they were established for God, and more specifically Christianity.  I mentioned that no state officer could serve who was not a professing Christian in many, if not all of the states.  So, while, there is no doubt, that some may have considered themselves Deists, they are publicly on record as claiming to be Christian.  So evidence that the founding fathers, 2/3rds of which were Christian clergy, were predominately atheist is just untrue and only exists in the minds of atheists.  The truth is that much of the history of the original 13 colonies and even some of the reasons for the American Revolution were due to the people wanting religious freedoms. And to claim that most were Deists is another bogus claim, again 2/3rds of the founding fathers were clergy in established Christian denominations.

    Man, can you not read the room.  Rather than my interactions with atheists causing me to question my faith, they have really strengthened my faith.  I have attended a few revivals that went 2 months or more and they did not strengthen my faith  as much as researching prayer, miracles, the historicity of Jesus, the historical evidence of the Resurrection, the various views on the creation of the universe, the fine tuning of the universe, the chemical issues with abiogenesis, the question of Evil, slavery in the Bible, and even the 20 or so 'God is a moral monster' verses that @Joeseph mentions.  In all candidness, I owe you a thank you.  In fact, I've been praying about doing a class at my church on the topics we've been debating.  That would be a real stretch for me.  So thank you for strengthening my faith.  And know that I have passed on the many nuggets of truth found in our debates with others and you have helped their faith also.  

    You don't have to have been a profiler for the FBI for a decade to know your crisis of faith stems from the tragedies in your life.  You are right that prayer helps the person praying.  I believe it also helps the one you are praying for - go check out the does praying work debate for a lot of good evidence.  Praying for you.

    the question of Evil, slavery in the Bible, and even the 20 or so 'God is a moral monster' verses that @Joeseph mentions.  

    But the only "defence " you actually have regards biblical slavery is denying the actual words of your god and pretending his words mean otherwise , you seem to think in the ancient world there was actually no slavery just a means of employment those nasty Atheists term slavery.

    To actually deny historical fact and what it actually says in the bible demonstrates clearly that you can only offer excuses for the immorality of your god by denying what to decent people is totally unpalatable.

    Adjacent to Corinth was the pagan temple at Delphi where a pagan priestess set atop a throne in the midst of the Temple and below her was a burning intoxicating substance supposedly an article of enlightenment to free the mind - soul for prophetic oracles; awaiting patrons would file into the presence of the pagan priestess seeking oracles of enlightenment relevant to their daily lives and their future decisions and as the day progressed the priestess became increasingly "intoxicated" and her speech became slurred and ultimately only gibberish was uttered thereby leaving the awaiting patrons more confused as they left than when they entered. 

    This pagan practice in Delphi garnered the priestess much notoriety; unfortunately, the women attending the Church in Corinth began to mimic the pagan priestess and would interrupt services with oracles of gibberish (unknown tongue - 1 Corinthians 14:2) and this caused much confusion and consternation for Paul who sought peace and organizational structure in the House of Elohim; therefore, Paul's admonition that women should remain quiet during services. I have seen and heard this pagan practice in Pentecostalism in modern day....this is why Paul emphasized the truism that God is not a God of confusion but a God of peace as in all the churches of the saints.

    @21CenturyIconoclast ;   Jesus sent out His Disciples to teach and proselytize the surrounding communities and admonished them to take only the necessities and to stay in the homes of the citizens as the worker is worthy of his wages and Jesus commanded that if a person, home, town, did not receive them but rejected the divine message of the Gospel, the Disciples were not to argue or fight or demand but they were to shake the dust from their sandals and move-on as that person, home, town, would be judged more harshly than Sodom and Gomorrah for their rejection of divine knowledge concerning the Father's will for their lives. This is relevant concerning you and other atheists as well in this forum...knowledge rejected is culpability.

    Second, Jesus commands that we, Christians, not cast pearls of knowledge and faith and grace before swine e.g., the ardent atheist, haters of God, as these were fully capable of turning and attacking like a demon...I see this truism in this forum as well.
