Diamonds are the hardest gem, and gold is the softest metal. Diamonds could be used as an excavation tool, since it's good at doing such. I voted diamond, but gold does have lots of uses. I did a thing for art class where I drew gold's uses, which include conducting electricity, insulating heat, and used as tooth fillings. Gold is also a symbol of wealth and power. Now that I think about it, I voted wrong.
Gold has more scientific uses. Plus it is an element so you can use it to make more compounds. Soon we may be able to make diamonds easily so the might start loosing their value to. So I choose....... Diamonds. Just kidding I choose gold because SCIENCE!

I love how I got so many people to start necroposting after I revived the trump climate change thread

I'm sure if ViceRegent were to comment on this thread he'd say something like "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GOLD OR DIAMONDS, THEY ARE JUST MADE UP CONCEPTS THAT EXIST WITHIN THE SOCIAL CONSTRUCT THAT THE GOVERNMENT WANTS YOU TO BELIEVE IS REAL. NOTHING EXISTS. PROVE TO ME GOLD AND/OR DIAMONDS EXIST."
Fascism Not many uses? I like science and I know of golds scientific importance. Here are some of it's uses. It is a great conductor of heat and electricity, is easy to shape, it doesn't tarnish which is useful for a mental and reflects infrared radiation very well. Because of the property gold has it is use in electronics, almost all complex electronics use a little bit of gold because it does it's job better then almost any metal (electric conductor and non tarnish), it is used in structures and things like tooth fillings (mostly when mixed with another substance to give it strength), it is used in space craft where they can't repair things because it is so reliable (like how they coat the space craft with gold because of it's infra red reflective property's), it is used in glass (in climate controlled buildings or to give class a certain look) the thing is even used for medical purposes (like radioactive gold in human tissue to combat cancer). Diamonds have their scientific significant but not like gold. Diamond is easier to produce. They already produce low quality diamonds for things like drill bits. Unless you use nuclear fission you can't make gold so gold is pressure. And yes gold is a sign of wealth (least important quality in my opinion). ; ) I may have spelled things wrong. : )
@Nope I agree that all of your uses for gold are valid, except for the spacecraft one. I believe that space exploration is not a concern for humanity at this point, but besides that, all of your uses for gold either don't require much gold, or are just used in specific circumstances. Drilling and other abrasive metals are used much more frequently. Gold has potential in the future, but as of now I just don't think it is as important as diamond.
Fascism I disagree. Gold is used in almost all electronics such as smart phones. I also think space expolartion is important but that is for a different debate. I think gold will become more useful but as of now I think gold has surpassed the value of diamond. It has become to much of a importance to technology. The fact very little gold is needed means it is very efficient to. I am not quite sure what the promote means by gold vs diamond buy I am assuming it means better in terms of uses. And if Gold is efficient then it is very useful. I also would like to point out diamond is used as a drill bit. Gold has more verity in it's uses. Yes it has specific uses but it has so many. Gold is also more valuable in decorations many times (because that is diamonds main other uses). I apologize for spelling. : )
@Nope If you take the mass of diamond that could potentially be used and compare it to the mass of gold that could potentially be used, diamond surpasses gold.
This debate is highly opinionated. It's not going to get us anywhere, so I say it is best to drop this debate.

Gold is just a sign of wealth. It doesn't have many uses.
Diamond is one of the hardest materials and has more potential for uses. It is currently being used as an abrasive as one of its uses.
