Hi, new here. I can't get the search button to work so I apologize if this a duplicate debate.
What do you think is the best way to deal with disinformation or misinformation online? All science denial is a form of conspiracy theory.

I think someone has done a complete number on your brain's ability to think critically because you seem to be using "conspiracy theory" and "misinformation" interchangeably. Since 9/11, the American public seems to have been convinced that conspiracies don't happen, which is just absolutely bizarre. In actual fact, the documented historical record is littered with examples of conspiracies. The gunpowder plot conspiracy is celebrated every year on the 5th November in the UK.
That isn't to say that many conspiracy theories aren't completely baseless nonsense, because that wouldn't be true either. However, what Americans seem to have been encouraged to do in recent years is simply ignore or ridicule anything which has been slapped with the label of "conspiracy theory", and any blanket reaction like that is dangerously fallacious. It's essentially guilt by association.
There are no hard and fast rules to differentiating genuine -- or likely to be genuine -- conspiracies from others which are nonsense. The only way to do that is by looking at all of them on an individual, case by case basis, with a completely open mind.
