@Logic, you may argue that at times ignorance is bliss. That said, many will debate with you on perception of good vs bad for US government. Many will advocate that transformational change we are finally seeing is refreshing.
@Logic, that is fair. I can understand your viewpoint and there is certainly lots of corruption. Police of the world is a fair way to describe the governent, although that's more than one word and is more representive of prior administration
It's to the eye of the beholder to decide. But it isn't hard to make a decision, Although it is a strong government, It doesn't use it's strength in the good ways.
I think the Founding Fathers' construct was the best in human history - however, there is a difference between the design and the practical implementation. Many of the institutions built upon the country formation have eroded over time or lost their meaning. Separation of powers was perverted by a two-party design, where really the struggle is happening not between 3 branches, but between 2 political groups having a certain degree of influence on each branch. The Electoral College, designed as the second step in the general election, turned into a fictive institution serving no real function. Private property rights have been infringed upon repeatedly, and the government now holds a firm grip over the market. Governmental competency has been dropping slowly as populists gained a foothold in the modern information age, and the media are too interested in short-term profit to have any regard for journalist ethics, necessary for keeping the governmental corruption in check.
The system needs a serious revamp. As it is, we are slowly heading towards an oligarchy merged with ochlocracy, where the government is two powerful groups more interested in winning the seats than getting anything done, constitutional principles are discarded left and right based on currently popular narratives.
Transforming the system into a parliamentary republic and limiting the percentage of seats a political party can hold would be a good first step, and literal interpretation of the Constitution trumping all other laws could be what has been missing from the system since the Civil War.
The word government, when broken down, describes itself.
Govern means control, and ment means mind.

Democratic As it was intended to be. Thousands have died to keep it that way. Today, because they can't seem to see that it is still imperfect, that it is still better than anything else on the market, that millions are wanting to make it even better, thousands seem to want to tear it apart. For what?? Screw those that have died to protect it?? I've not seen ONE practical suggestion that is better. Unregulated Capitalism is an oligarchy-in-waiting. Socialism is impractical. Fascism and Communism, well, forget it. Secular Religious Government, under ANY religion is a cattle drive led by rich cowboys. What we have will always need work, improvement, change to fit a growing world. The beauty is that THAT is allowed! The beauty is that the system allows U.S. to incorporate the best of the others (if there are any "bests"), into what we already have. NONE of the others allow that. They all lead to the rich, the powerful, taking over and leading the cattle to wherever they want them to go. I'll take democracy, any day!
